About this file

This document is a Salient Characteristics specification for a Mobile Breathing Air Recharging System Trailer required by the 7th Contracting Squadron at Dyess Air Force Base. The system will be used to resupply breathing air bottles for firefighters during complex emergencies under Air Force solicitation FA466126Q0092.

The Mobile Breathing Air Recharging System must be a high-pressure compressor capable of delivering at least 6000 PSI to fill Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) cylinders with a minimum flow rate of 13 Standard Cubic Feet per Minute (SCFM). The air quality must meet or exceed NFPA 1989 standards and include a multi-stage filtration system with moisture separators, oil separators, and CO/CO2 removal capabilities. The system shall feature a cascade storage system with at least two 6000 PSI storage cylinders, be mounted on a weather-resistant DOT-compliant trailer with appropriate lighting and braking systems, and include either an engine-driven or electric motor option suitable for stationary and mobile use. Additional requirements include an efficient cooling system for high-temperature operation, a user-friendly control panel with digital readouts for pressure and temperature monitoring, automatic shut-off and pressure relief valves with emergency stop mechanisms, and certification to meet or exceed OSHA, NFPA, and ANSI standards. The contractor must provide easy maintenance access with readily available parts, on-site operator and maintenance personnel training with comprehensive user manuals, and a minimum one-year warranty on parts and labor.
