About this file
This is a Questions and Answers document for RFQ FA466125Q0137, an Armory Relocation Service contract issued by the 7th Contracting Squadron at Dyess Air Force Base, Texas, dated July 29, 2025. The procurement involves relocating Spacesaver mobile shelving carriage systems and weapons racks from Building 4201 to Building 7232, approximately one mile away between separate buildings.
The equipment includes various sized modular racks (tall: 42¼" x 16" x 84", short: 42¼" x 16" x 35", medium: 44¼" x 16" x 42¼") weighing 28-34 lbs unloaded, with some units powered by 120-volt outlets and others stationary. The contractor must disassemble, transport, and reinstall the systems, securing them to concrete floors and walls with bolting force equivalent to 550 lbs weight per shelf. Assets currently stored on the shelves will be removed by government personnel before contractor work begins. The relocation involves concrete flooring at the new site and rubber matting over concrete at the old site, with contractors responsible for any accidental damage repairs at the new location. The old Building 4201 is scheduled for demolition. Photos and attachments are referenced but not included in this Q&A document.

DEPARTMENT OF THE AIR FORCE
7TH CONTRACTING SQUADRON (AFGSC)
DYESS AIR FORCE BASE TEXAS
DEATH FROM ABOVE
29 July 2025
FROM: 7 CONS/PKB
SUBJECT: Vendor Questions for 7 SFS RFQ: FA466125Q0137, Armory Relocation Service
Questions and Answers:
1. Can you provide the make and model of the mobile shelving carriage system/weapons racks systems currently in use?
Manufacture: Spacesaver, Part number UWRC4284 / UWRCOS34
NSN: 1095-01-611-4714 / 1095-01-550-7108
2. What are the dimensions (length, width, height, depth, etc.) and approximate weight of each component being relocated?
Taller racks 42 ¼” x 16” x 84” x 15 7/8”
Short racks: 42 ¼” x 16” x 35” x 15 7/8”
Medium racks 44 ¼” x 16” x 42 ¼” x 15 7/8”
Estimated weight online has the racks at 28 lbs – 34 lbs unloaded
3. Is the system manual-crank or powered?
The current system is supplied by a outlet plug of 120volts. The other racks are stationery.
4. Will the material on the shelving system and racks need to be moved as well?
The assets on the shelf will not be handled by the contractors. Items on the shelves will be taken off prior to moving the shelves.
5. Can you provide pictures of the shelving system and racks needing to be moved with labels for each item?
Please see attachments
6. Are the units (shelving/racks) modular or are they in sections that can be disassembled for easier transport? If not, can they be taken apart safely?
The shelves are modular as they can be mounted/ bolted together. The shelves break apart but not break down.
7. Will the relocated systems be required to be secured to the floor, the wall, or both?
Some of the shelves will be required to be secured to the walls and floors. Others that are not against the walls will be secured to each other and secured to the floor.
8. Are there any anchoring requirements based on the flooring or wall materials based on the make and model of the shelving system?
Shelving system is required to be bolted to the floor to be secured where it cannot be easily moved or removed from the facility. The bolting force should be equivalent to 550 lbs weight per shelf.
9. Can you provide photos of the current installation location (Bldg. 4201) and the new install location (Bldg. 7232), including any hallways, doorways, or obstacles that might impact movement?
Please see attachments
10. Are there any space or structural limitations (e.g., narrow hallways or low clearance that would require full disassembly before transport?
Not at this time. Obstacles that can be projected or seen as limited movement zones are the hallway doors entering and exiting the vault areas.
11. What is the distance between the current and future install sites? Are they in the same building or separate buildings?
Sperate buildings, about 1 mile to the new building
12. Can you provide detailed measurements of both the equipment and the intended installation walls, including which walls the racks are being placed against?
All walls should be concrete, and locations will be clearly defined where the shelves will be mounted to the respective wall.
13. Are any of the new wall locations cornered or open-ended—meaning will the racks need to be installed between two walls or flush against just one wall?
The intent is to the racks against the walls installed into the wall to secure them in place.
In the event that a cable, outlet or ect does not allow a rack to be installed directly into the wall a bracket would need to be installed to support the securing site to ad-fix the rack to the bracket that is anchored to the wall.
14. Will the shelving systems be installed directly on top of the current flooring, or does the existing flooring need to be removed first?
Yes, the shelves will be anchored to the current flooring in the new site.
15. What type of flooring currently exists in both the removal and installation areas?
Concreate at the new site and rubber matting with concreate under that mat at the old site.
16. Are we responsible for any repairs at the old location (Bldg. 4201) once the racks and systems are removed? If so, please provide details on what type of wall/flooring restoration is expected.
Not sure entirely sure since the old site is set to be demolished. The new location would need to be repaired, or the contractors are responsible for damage at the new site. Example if a hole is put into a wall accidently it would need to be filled.
