Due to cutting the slope of the dike under the fabric to be a 4:1

The Details on Sheet C‐302 are over exaggerated to give a better view of what is taking place. The contractor will remove 10‐11 ft. of riprap, separate out the material not in spec., which is estimated to be around 30%.

Then place back a 12 in. thick section of riprap in the same location. THe reason for the hatching underneath the riprap in the detail is to show that there might need to be a little bit of fill underneath the riprap in order to bring it up so the top of the riprap matches the existing riprap height. This is due to the average depth of the riprap being 1.31 ft. and only putting back 1 ft.NOte that this is just average, some areas will need it and others will not. The 12 in. riprap section wil lthen match the topsoil that is being graded at a 4:1 from the top of the dike. There will be some material excavated out to anchor the fabric but that will be palced back in the same trench.
