1. The fire pump control panel and transfer switch is to be replaced. Where is the electrical connection for the fire pump? It will need to be disconnected for the panel change, can it be disconnected without shutting down power to the entire building?

Answer: Normal commercial power connection is in the basement electrical room where the service entrance is located. According to the one-line, the fire pump transfer switch should be isolated by opening the 1000-Amp breaker at the Fire Protection Switchboard. Should not have to shut down power to the entire building.

2. The fire pump control panel and transfer switch for the fire pump panel is to be replaced. Where is the generator electrical connection for the power to the transfer switch? Is there a connection point to which it can be temporarily disconnected for the equipment replacement?

Answer: The generator circuit to the transfer switch is from an 800-Amp breaker in the generator switchboard, "GS" located near the generator for B-500. Opening this breaker should isolate the generator side of the fire pump panel.

3. If the building power is to be shut down what kind of notice will need to be given for scheduling the power shutdown?

Answer: It usually takes a minimum of five weeks to coordinate a power outage for B-500. However, based on the answers of 1 and 2 above, this should not be necessary.

4. Does the elevator currently have recall capability?

Answer: The elevator currently has recall capability

5. Will the building user or the contractor be required to perform fire watches when an area has the sprinklers shut down overnight?

Answer: When fire watch is necessary, it will be the responsibility of the Govt. The contractor will not be required to perform fire watch.

6. Does the elevator currently have the lighted “Fire hat” for fire signals and does it currently have the ability for the blinking functions? Or will the elevator itself have to be modified for this?

Answer: Assume that the fire hat and blinking function currently do not exist. Contractor responsible for providing these functions per Sheet FP-400, Sequence of Operations, Column E.1.

7. Sheet FP301 shows the existing jockey pump being reused. Will the existing jockey pump controller be reused?

Answer: Yes.

8. For this project, the specifications appear to indicate that you want a full time Quality Control professional(with no other duties) on site, which would mean in addition to a full time superintendent. Please confirm.

Answer: Refer to Spec Section 01000, Para 3.17.2.2.1
