QUESTION:

We assume there are gates to let vehicles in and out of the areas on base that are in need of repair. Are there any size restrictions on these gates? The chip seal machine is 14' wide and the ready mix trucks are about 14' tall.

RESPONSE:

The MAF gates are 20 feet wide so there should be no problems with getting the chip seal machine on-site. As for the height concern this should not be a problem since the maintenance teams regularly take their semi van trailers on and off site with no issues.

QUESTION:

The other issue is regarding the line item that states the jobs need to be completed in 10 days. Does this mean each separate area must be completely finished in 10 days? We are wondering if the concrete for all areas can be laid at one time, then all areas can be chip sealed at one time. This would mean two complete phases to finalize the entire job. If each area needs to be totally finished before moving to the next, we just need to know for our estimate.

RESPONSE:

Yes the concrete can be laid at the sites and then they can be chip sealed at a later date when the chip seal crew is mobilized. However keep in mind that some sites will need to be fully completed before others due to overlapping construction contracts at various sites.
