About this file
This is a Questions and Answers document from a federal contract opportunity for an overhead hoist replacement at Whiteman Air Force Base.
The requirement involves procuring and installing a replacement overhead hoist system for munitions handling in an indoor, explosive environment facility. Key technical specifications include: double-reeved configuration for true vertical lift capability, 120VAC control voltage (5A rated contacts), and no trolley travel limit switches required. The hoist must be Class/Division/Group rated for explosive environments per its intended use hoisting munitions assets. The project also requires an independently festooned push button control station with separate c-track, allowing operators to control the hoist from a position not affixed to the equipment itself. The existing push button station is attached to the old hoist and will be removed; contractors must provide a new independent festooned station. If the existing c-track used for the flat cable can be repurposed, it may be utilized; otherwise, new c-track must be supplied. Installation, demonstration, and load testing at 125% capacity are anticipated as part of the overall requirement. All known certifications and detailed requirements are specified in the solicitation and attachments. The Requirement Owner does not have records of the original equipment purchase and installation.

1. Is there a Class, Division or Group rating for this hoist? Meaning is this a corrosive or explosive environment.
The hoist is utilized in an explosive environment. It is specifically used to hoist munitions assets.
2. Is this hoist/crane located outside?
No. It is an indoor overhead hoist.
3. Is the Washington township near Saint Joe, MO or is this located at the Whiteman AFB?
Located on Whiteman AFB
4. Does this hoist need a true vertical lift? meaning double reeved.
Yes. Current hoist is double reeved. (Can also refer to images.)
5. Do you need any trolley travel limit switches?
No.
6. Is the control voltage 120-volt or 24-volt?
The current controller is contacts rated 5A at 120VAC.
7. Do you need a power & controls festoon system along with the pendant festoon system?
Yes, we would like to have an independently festooned push button station so we are not affixed to the hoist. Reference PWS Ch. 3.0 number 1. Additionally, reference images to see current set up.
8. I assume you need a hoist & festoon demo & installation quote along with a load test quote at 125% of capacity?
I believe this question is more related to CONS regarding quotes/prices for things.?
9. Are we needing to remove the existing push-button station that we should use or do we need to provide a new push-button with festoon?
If we do need to provide new, do we need to also include new c-track?
The existing push button station is affixed to the old hoist. With the removal of the old hoist, we would need a new push-button station. We are looking for an Independently Festooned Push Button Station so the operator can utilize controls not affixed to hoist. Reference images to see current set up. If you can utilize the line/track that the flat cable is currently attached to, it can be used for the future requirement. If not, a new c-track would be needed.
