STATEMENT OF WORK

FY 17 Legume Inter-seeding into Existing Vegetation on 400 acres

Whiteman Air Force Base, Missouri

2 Jun 2017

PURPOSE: Purpose of this project is to inter-seed legumes into 400 acres of existing pasture land to improve plant composition and assist with toxicity from fescue grass endophytes. This will increase use by livestock for a managed grazing lease and provide more revenue through increased rental rates. Project is comprised of two sections. One area is 122 acres outside the northeast side of the active airfield, while the other 278 acres is located on the southeast side of the installation (see maps). Both areas were recently removed from row crop production and seeded to a K-31 type of endophyte infected fescue. Both areas are considered off the airfield environment, outside the existing security fence, but inside the installation boundaries barbed wire fence. Both areas adjoin D highway on the east side of the installation.

1) Contractor shall utilize a no-till drill set up for legume inter-seeding into existing vegetation with opener spacing less than 10 inches between

2) Contractor shall follow Planned Seeding composition of medium red clover (6.9#), ladino clover(3.4#), and alsike clover(3.6#) at rates listed per acre – see seed sheet for totals.

3) Contractor shall utilize legume seed from Missouri adapted varieties

4) Contractor shall utilize proper inoculants on legume seed if recommended by seed supplier.

5) Contractor shall accomplish work from September 1-October 15th.

6) Contractor shall provide clean up and disposal of all debris and trash created from project.

7) Contractor shall ensure all utility lines are cleared if required through MO 1 Call System.
