About this file
This document is a Questions and Answers file for a solicitation (FA462125Q0051) for an X-ray machine for the 22nd Logistics Readiness Squadron (LRS) at McConnell Air Force Base. The X-ray machine is primarily intended for screening carry-on and checked luggage departing via airlift, meeting United States Transportation Command (USTRANSCOM) and Air Mobility Command (AMC) passenger baggage screening requirements. The Q&A document addresses three key vendor inquiries: (1) clarification on UPS requirements (confirmed to be for internal PC protection), (2) compatibility concerns with Astrophysics roller tables (vendor seeks to reuse existing tables), and (3) confirmation of the DFARS clause 252.204-7020, which was deemed appropriate due to inclusion of incidental services like training and installation.
The solicitation is issued by the Department of the Air Force Air Mobility Command, with the primary objective of procuring an X-ray screening machine that ensures passenger service agents can avoid manual baggage searches and provide an additional layer of flight safety screening. The Q&A document demonstrates the government's willingness to provide detailed clarifications to potential vendors, addressing technical and procedural questions that might impact bid preparation and machine compatibility.

22 LRS X-Ray Machine
FA462125Q0051
1. A UPS is stipulated on the specifications. Does this need to be a whole unit UPS or just a UPS for the internal PC?
This is just for the protection of the internal PC (data protection, equipment safety) and not to power the entire unit in a power outage.
2. Astrophysics roller tables are specified in the solicitation documents. That is a brand specific requirement. Are equivalent roller tables for other machines acceptable?
We currently have Astrophysics roller tables from our previous X-ray machine and intend to reuse them to avoid unnecessary costs. Therefore, the X-ray machine selected must be compatible with these existing tables. While equivalent roller tables for other machines may be acceptable, we cannot confirm compatibility without physically inspecting the machine. To be fiscally responsible, we are not seeking to purchase new roller tables and can only verify that our current tables are compatible with other Astrophysics models.
3. 252.204-7020 NIST SP 800-171DoD Assessment Requirements is listed as an included DFARS. Can you confirm if this may have been included by mistake as there is no IT or network related requirements for these solicitations as this is delivery of a stand-alone machine?
This is not a mistake, as 252.204-7020 is required in the contract because we are procuring more than just a COTS item, and including incidental services (training & Installation) into the contract.
