About this file

This document is a Questions and Answers (Q&A) file related to a federal contract opportunity for Cargo Loading Ramps issued by the Department of the Air Force Air Mobility Command.

The key details are:

  • The second item listed is 48" long, which is unusual as the typical length is 94".
  • The aircraft being utilized are C-5, C-17, and C-130.
  • The type of equipment being loaded is provided in an attached Equipment Listing.
  • The load angle required is dependent on the aircraft, which is why there are 8 ramp sections.
  • A 21,000 lb. max axle solution is not adequate, and the requirement is for 26K or higher to handle the worst-case scenario of a Tug or MB2 being loaded.

Q&A

1. I wanted to make sure the 2nd item listed is indeed 48” long. This is very unusual. It is typically 94” long.

• Yes, it is indeed 48” long.

2. The Aircraft(s) being utilized?

• C-5, C-17, C-130.

3. The type of equipment being loaded? ( If the ATTLA Certifications for these pieces of equipment are available it would be VERY helpful)

• See attached Equipment Listing.

4. The load angle that needs to be achieved per the ATTLA Certifications?

• The angle is dependent on the aircraft. That’s why there are 8 ramp sections.

5. Is a 21,000 lb. max axle solution (rather than a 26K) adequate to load the equipment? Is it acceptable to bid a 21K max axle solution? The ramps would still be 36” wide. We also offer a 30K max axle solution, but the 21K max axle solution is less expensive.

• We have to bid for the worst-case scenario of a Tug or MB2 being loaded.

26K or higher is required.
