The purpose of this amendment is as follows:
Answer questions posed by contactors during solicitation.
Q1: The Arrow ASSA ABLOY devices listed to be installed do not meet the BDS requirements. Do the devices need to meet BDS requirements??
A1: Life Safety overrides the BDS. CDC and youth center have their own requirement for door hardware requirement. The ASSA ABLOY is just a sample to refer to the type needed to fix the write-up. Please See Below
Fire Safety Deficiency Finding:
Full-width, push-pad style panic hardware is provided on the main entrance doors, all corridor exit doors, and all doors opening directly to the outside from child occupied rooms. The panic hardware must NOT be toggled downed when children occupy the facility
EXCEPTION:: For facilities built before 2002, panic hardware must be provided on the main entrance doors and all corridor exit doors, and full-width, push-pad style panic hardware is required on at least one door leading directly to the outside from all child occupied rooms housing children 24 months and younger. The panic hardware must NOT be toggled down when children occupy the facility.
Q2. The ASSA ABLOY Arrow series is a light duty grade and not equal to the Precision Apex 2000 listed in the BDS. Does the contractor have to warranty the devices and if so for how long?
A2: ASSA ABLOY is only for reference, not mandatory use. Standard Commercial Warranty of 1-Year
Q3. Our supplier is saying ASSA ABLOY is phasing out the Arrow line and parts may be hard to get. Should extra devices be ordered for parts?
A3: Not within the Scope of the SOW
Q4: The 19 Arrow-ASSA exit device trim are not ADA compliant. Do the devices need to be ADA compliant?
A4: Base Fire Prevention Office approved the ASSA ABLOY-ARROW and was the basis for design, not a requirement. They must meet life safety code NFPA 101. They do not need to be ADA compliant.
Q5: Current lead times on Arrow ASSA ABLOY devices is 10-12 weeks. The RFP states the project needs to be completed within 30 days of award. Will the completion time be extended from 30 days to 100 days to allow delivery and installation?
A5: No, ASSA ABLOY was only shown as an example, not a requirement.
Q6: Are all 19 exterior doors and 6 interior doors the same?
A6: Yes, all the exterior doors are the same and all interior doors are the same.
Q7: Will delayed egress be required for the exterior doors?
A7: No, delayed egress is not required for the exterior doors.
Q8: What series is required for the door lock keyway?
A8: The series required for the door lock keyway is Best Type R.
Q9: Can the bid date be extended?
A9: No
