Questions / Answers

1. Can you get me either a model year of the Cummins ISL 425 engine, engine serial number, or year of the fire vehicle?

Answer:

The part number that was given to us for a re-man engine is DR6942RX and the engine number for the engine that is currently in the truck is 46975428.

2. In the SOW, it talks about engine play in Cyl #5, was the engine dismantled to find this out or was a borescope used? If the engine was dismantled, can we get pictures of the current state of the engine and where all of the parts are?

Answer:

Engine was disassembled by a local shop. The top end of the engine is torn apart and in a large triple walled cardboard box. The short block is still mounted in the truck. A picture of the box and engine is below.

3. There are two engine options available for overhaul, Short Block or Long Block. Will the customer want the head replaced also to ensure there are no defective parts installed? Or does the customer want a Short Block only? Short Block will be Block, Crank, and Pistons only. Long Block is Block, Crank, Pistons, and Head.

Answer:

We are wanting a long block installed.

4. I’m aware in the SOW it states the Injectors were recently replaced. With there still being engine damage, is the customer concerned about the injectors, or at least the injector on the bad cylinder, needing to be replaced again?

Answer:

No new injectors are needed.
