QUESTIONS and ANSWERS Repair NC3, 2F, 55 WG/CP & CAT, B500 (SGBP 18-0041)

95. Question: Do you know if there will be a detail submitted for the railing around the platforms and stairs? It wasn’t clear if the railing needs to be completely designed or if there was something the architect/owner wanted for those locations.

Answer: See attached revised sheet A-103 answering the below question

96. Question: This may be more for the architect, In 051200 there seems to be a specification that is calling out an AISC Certified fabricator (AISC 207). Could this be excluded or could an exception be made?

Answer: We need to keep this requirement in the specifications to ensure quality welding at the platforms, etc.

97. Question: I am a mechanical insulation sub-contractor and am looking to bid the project mentioned in the subject line and you are listed as the point of contact. Upon review of the insulation specification pages, I am unable to locate the “table 2” listing of piping insulation thicknesses (see below excerpt). Typically, in situations like this I reach out to the mechanical engineer who created the specifications, however, when attempting this I was instructed that I must submit any questions through the government.

Example:

“3.2.2.1 Insulation Material and Thickness Insulation thickness for cold pipelines shall be determined using Table 2.”

Answer: We need to keep this requirement in the specifications to ensure quality welding at the platforms, etc.

See attached revised spec section 23 07 00

98. Question: In section 23 07 00 there is no Table 2 and thus no listing of required material thicknesses – without this, I cannot accurately estimate our material costs. Please advise.

Answer: See attached revised spec section 23 07 00

99. Question: On page 401 the enlarged plan 2 A-401 it says go to 12 on A-401 but that is a view of the bathroom do you know what is supposed to go in this area? Also, page A-402 Detail 4 A,B,C it does not call out a countertop is this supposed to be SS-1?

Answer: See the attached revised sheet A-401

100. Question: Will the government be able to have salvage rights to the cypher lock hardware including the XO type?

Answer: The contractor shall remove the cypher lock/XO type from the existing doors in 2F corridor scheduled for demo and deliver to the XP office located in Room 2G2.
