Questions

1. Demolition keyed note 2 on sheets A1.1 and A1.2 call for removing doors and frames.

However, the door schedule calls for the frames for doors BG1D and 1G1D (sheet 6) and elevations 1D/A5.0 and 2D/A5.0 are to be reused. Is it correct that these two frames are reused?

YES, REUSE EXISTING FRAME, DOORS ARE NEW AND INDICATED AS SUCH ON THE FLOOR

PLANS.

2. Sheet M1.1 elevation 3/M1.1 shows sheet note 10 to connect the new 4” sanitary to the existing sanitary main below the plumbing chase. Is there any way to determine how far the existing line is from the new line so a quantity of floor removal and replacement can be determined?

WITHOUT SCOPING THE EXISTING SANITARY WE CANNOT KNOW THE EXACT DISTANCE. THE

LOCATION WE HAVE ON THE DRAWING SHOULD BE SOMEWHAT CLOSE TO WHERE THEY

WILL NEED TO TIE INTO. AGAIN, WITHOUT SCOPING THE EXISTING SANITARY AN EXACT

LOCATION CANNOT BE DETERMINED. SUGGEST BIDDERS INCLUDE THE SCOPING.

3. Can the demolition (sawing & breaking the concrete) be done during regular working hours or do we need to figure overtime rates so the noisy work described in item 2 above can be done after hours?

The general policy around the building is any jackhammer work needs be after hours.

4. Drawing 10 of 10, E1.2, Flag note #2 calls for the removal of the existing disconnect and H-

O-A for the existing pump being replaced. Sheet Note #1 calls for a new combination starter/disconnect to be installed for the new pump HWP-1 to be connected to the existing circuit. Is there and existing starter located elsewhere the we will have to remove? The H- O-A must be controlling the current starter. Once remove the circuit will not work without removal of the existing starter and rewiring the existing circuit. Please clarify.

FLAG NOTE NUMBER TWO IS LOCATED ON THE DEMOLITION PLANS (2/E1.2). THIS NOTE

INDICATES TO REMOVE THE DISCONNECT AND H-O-A SWITCH. IT IS MY UNDERSTANDING

THE EXISTING STARTER AND THE H-O-A SWITCH ARE A COMBINATION UNIT. IF A LOOSE

STARTER IS INSTALLED, PLEASE REMOVE. THE NEW WORK PLANS (3/E1.2) INDICATE A NEW

STARTER/DISCONNECT COMBINATION WITH THE APPROPRIATE RE-WIRING OF THE CIRCUIT.

5. Drawing 10 of 10, E1.2, Sheet Note #2 calls for the circuit indicated to be fed from an existing panel in the mechanical room BG1G, (Actually BG7). The existing panel in BG1G (BG7) is to be relocated as part of this project. The existing panel is an FPE brand. FPE brand was purchased by Westinghouse which runs up the cost of circuit breakers. In addition the FPE panel should be replaced in lieu of relocated due to the UL listing problems FPE had prior to going out of business. This would be an opportunity to replace an old panel with a new one. Please verify the panel that we are to use and the correct room numbers.

UTILIZE THE EXISTING PANEL DUE TO THE CRITICAL FUNCTION OF THE PANEL.

Questions

6. Drawing 10 of 10 - The ADT panel in room 1G1C and the fiber box in room BG1C (Drawing 9 of 10) are both to be relocated. Are we to include this in our proposals or will the Government handle these items with their specific system service companies?

ADT WILL BE MOVED AND REPLACED UNDER CONTRACT BY THE GOVERNMENT. FIBER BOX

RESPONSIBILITY OF CONTRACTOR AND TO BE INCLUDED IN HIS PROPOSAL.

7. On Pg. 7 of 10 Detail 3 M1.1 “Enlarged Basement Level Plan ‘Plumbing”. It shows the floor drain pipe running behind the North wall penetrating it, traveling under the toilet and meeting the floor drain in front of the toilet. Is it acceptable to have the floor drain pipe come through the Mechanical Chase Door Way and then over to the specified location for the floor drain?

WITHOUT SCOPING THE EXISTING SANITARY WE CANNOT KNOW THE EXACT DISTANCE.THE

LOCATION WE HAVE ON THE DRAWING SHOULD BE SOMEWHAT CLOSE TO WHERE THEY

WILL NEED TO TIE INTO. AGAIN WITHOUT SCOPING THE EXISTING SANITARY AN EXACT

LOCATION CANNOT BE DETERMINED." SUGGEST BIDDERS INCLUDE THE SCOPING.

8. On page 3 of 10 Detail 5 A1.1 is says to apply Gyp. Board directly over existing soffit, the existing soffit will have to be demoed in order to install plumbing is it the Government’s intention to have two layers of Gyp. Board or is one layer enough?

ONLY ONE LAYER OF GYPBOARD IS REQUIRED

9. In 1G there is an existing concrete curb, is this curb to be removed or do the walls need to be on the outside of the curb, or be installed on top of the curb?

REMOVE CURB ONLY IF NECESSARY TO ACCOMMODATE THE NEW WALLS AND WALL

FINISHES.

10. Does the Peg Board located in the Mechanical Room of 1G contain asbestos? Also there is a sign located on the inside of the door in the Janitors Closet that says Warning Asbestos. Has this project been tested and cleared of Asbestos?

PEGBOARD DOES NOT CONTAIN ASBESTOS. HOWEVER THERE ARE POSITIVE RESULTS ON

THE TESTS FOR ANY SPRAY ON CEILINGS, FLOOR TILE AND PIPE INSULATION, NOTIFY

GOVERNMENT INSPECTOR PRIOR TO DISTURBING ANY SUSPECTED SURFACES DURING

CONSTRUCTION.
