About this file

This is a Contractor Questions and Answers document for the Minot Air Force Base Kitchen Equipment Purchase and Installation solicitation (FA452826QMH10). The document addresses two key clarifications requested by contractors regarding equipment installation requirements and specifications.

Regarding countertop modifications, the government clarified that contractors are not authorized to physically modify existing countertops (cutting, grinding, or widening) if new equipment requires larger cutouts. However, contractors are authorized to provide and install custom stainless-steel adapter flanges or trim rings to bridge gaps when existing holes are larger than new equipment, ensuring sanitary seals. For the Undercounter High-Temperature Dishwashing Machine specifications, the government confirmed the required electrical configuration is 60 Hz, 37.7 Amps, 1-Phase, 208V. The government also confirmed that supplying machines with field-convertible power technology adaptable to 208/240V and 1/3 Phase is acceptable. These clarifications provide contractors with specific guidance on installation flexibility and electrical specifications to ensure proper equipment compatibility across the five installation locations covered under this Firm-Fixed Price Request for Quotation.

1.Existing Countertop Material and Cutout Modifications: The SOW instructs the contractor to remove the existing equipment and verify spatial constraints before purchasing products. However, the documents do not specify the material of the countertops that these drop-in units are currently installed into. Because modern commercial replacement equipment often features slightly different cutout requirements than legacy equipment, could the government please clarify the following:

•What material are the existing countertops made of (e.g., heavy-gauge stainless steel, solid surface, or laminate)?
•If the post-award site verification reveals that the new equivalent units require a slightly larger cutout than the existing hole, is the contractor authorized to physically modify (cut/grind/widen) the existing countertops to ensure a proper fit?

No contractor is not authorized to physically modify (cut/grind/widen) the existing countertops

• Conversely, if the existing hole is slightly larger than the new unit, is the contractor authorized to provide and install a custom stainless-steel adapter flange/trim ring to bridge the gap and ensure a sanitary seal?

Yes, the contractor is authorized to provide and install a custom stainless-steel adapter flange/trim ring to bridge the gap and ensure a sanitary seal

2. Dishwasher Voltage & Phase: The specifications for the Undercounter High-Temperature Dishwashing Machine (Page 5) list the motor horsepower and heater kW ratings, but omit the required Voltage and Phase. In order to ensure the quoted machines are compatible with the existing electrical configurations at the 5 locations, please confirm the required Voltage (e.g., 208V or 240V) and Phase (1-Phase or 3-Phase). Alternatively, please confirm if supplying a machine with field-convertible power technology (adaptable to 208/240V and 1/3 Phase) is acceptable.

60 Hz, 37.7 Amps, and 1-Phase, 208V; Yes, Alternatively, please confirm if supplying a machine with field-convertible power technology (adaptable to 208/240V and 1/3 Phase) is acceptable.
