1 August 2014 Specification Questions

Question:

What are the actual standoff-distances the building needs to be designed for? In the Q&A (item 19) a minimum standoff of 13ft is given, but not the actual standoff distance. The actual standoff distances are needed to design the translucent panel systems around it

Answer:

Standoff - The stand-off distance is the perimeter fence of the WSA, any vehicles within this fence line have been searched for explosives. In this case, the nearest perimeter fence is approximately 120-feet to the southwest, which is a substantial standoff distance.

Question:

Amendment 2 addresses the concerns regarding pipe and fitting for hydraulics. However, Amendment 2 specifically addresses requirements for 1/2” and 3/4” piping, yet plan shows 3/4”, 1” and 1-1/2” hydraulic piping. Please clarify

Answer:

Piping - On the hydraulic piping we need to provide a 316/316L stainless steel ASTM A269 seamless tubing. The ¾-inch tubing shall have a wall thickness of 0.083 inches (4,200 psig working pressure). The 1-inch tubing shall have a wall thickness of 0.095 inches (3,600 psig working pressure). The 1-1/2-inch tubing shall have a wall thickness of 0.156 inches (4,000 psig working pressure). The ¾-inch tubing shall be provided with 1210 fitting series, all as manufactured by Swagelok or equal. The 1-inch tubing shall be provided with 1610 series fittings. The 1-1/2-inch tubing shall be provided with 2400 series fittings.

The fittings shall be designed with two-ferrule, mechanical grip type of compression fitting as manufactured by Swagelok or equal. Any valves required shall be constructed of stainless steel and suitable for Alternative Fuel Service with the fractional Swagelok tube fittings or equal.
