About this file
This document is a set of Questions and Answers (Q&A) related to the Demineralizer Water Services solicitation (FA448424R0014) for Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst (JB MDL). The key details are:
The solicitation is for the procurement of Demineralizer Water Services to support JB MDL starting in FY25. The service requires a mobile demineralizer trailer that can process 200 gallons per minute, with an output of 100 gallons per minute. The trailer must be able to fit in the designated 42-foot space, though a 48-52 foot trailer would also be acceptable. The contractor will need to provide the trailer, as the current trailer belongs to the incumbent. The influent water pressure from the sand filters is unknown. The water feeds directly into the filter system, not into a storage tank. There are no space restrictions for the trailer location. The flow rate may sometimes exceed 100 gallons per minute during testing, but this is not a constant condition. The services are not supplementing an existing demin system, and the irregular flow is due to testing requirements.

Questions and Answers
1. We were unable to find the flow rate supply to the DI trailer and outlet flow rates. Could you see if you if we can get the specs for this?
a. The system pumps 200 gallons per minute going into the trailer and get about 100 gallons per minute going out of the trailer.
2. Just confirming that a 10MG DI trailer (48’-52’) trailer will fit in the location of where the DI trailer will be stowed. Please confirm?
a. The current trailer is 42 feet long with plenty of space left. The space would be able to fit a 48–52-foot trailer.
3. Do we have to provide the trailer or does it already exist in place?
a. The trailer that is currently on location belongs to the current contractor. The new contractor would have to provide the trailer.
4. The spec calls out the feed water to the DI trailer being feed from sand filters. Do we know the pressure coming off of the sand filters to the DI trailer?
a. Unfortunately, the pressure coming off the filters cannot be determined at this time.
5. Are we feeding to a DI storage tank or directly into the process?
a. The water feeds directly into the filter system.
6. Are there any space restrictions at your location where you want the DI trailer?
a. Attached is a drawing and pictures of the platform that the demineralizer trailer sits on with its measurements, we currently have a 48 foot trailer at the location.
7. If the trailer is mobile, can we set up a tank to be more stationary at the site?
a. No, we want a mobile demineralizer trailer, one unit which can be easily swapped out (see PWS).
8. If you expect the flow of influent water to our trailer to sometimes be in excess of 100 gpm, how long can we expect this 100 gpm flow?
a. Unknown, happens during testing.
9. At 100gpm, the flow can only last about 7 days until it exceeds your monthly maximum of slightly over 1,000,000 gallons/month. We doubt this scenario will happen, but we are curious.
a. Flow rates exceed 100 gpm during vigorous testing. This is not a constant.
10. If this is for a steam plant, is this trailer being used mostly for supplementing your existing demin system? Why is the flow so irregular?
a. Not supplementing existing system. Irregular due to testing.
