About this file

This is a Questions and Answers document for federal contract opportunity FA442726Q1140 concerning dormitory mailbox removal and installation services at Travis Air Force Base, California, dated September 9, 2026.

The solicitation requires removal of existing front-loading mailboxes and installation of replacement units across eight buildings (1304, 1305, 1308, 1309, 1334 supplied by Bommer Industries; 1352, 1353 by Cutter; and 1355 by Security MFG Corp). All replacement mailboxes must feature aluminum finish, be USPS-approved postal equipment capable of holding a normal day's mail volume, and include standard replaceable name slots without engraving. Installation must be completed within one month per dormitory once equipment is acquired. The government will remove all existing mail and collect resident keys prior to demolition, with temporary mailbox service interruptions permitted at each building during repair, not to exceed 30 days maximum per mailbox bank. The contractor is not responsible for providing temporary mail distribution arrangements, secure staging areas, or storage facilities. No additional funding will be provided for concealed damage, corrosion, or unsuitable conditions discovered during removal; contractors bear responsibility for all damages they produce. Building-by-building mailbox schedules identifying existing dimensions and configurations will be provided in the Statement of Work, along with photographs of mailbox interiors. One master key per building is required, and all buildings cannot be closed simultaneously—access will be released in phases.
