About this file
This memorandum from the 97th Air Mobility Wing (AETC) at Altus Air Force Base, Oklahoma requests procurement of one replacement two-stage reciprocating air compressor for Hangar 518. The 97th Maintenance Squadron requires this equipment to replace worn and damaged air compressors that currently provide inadequate air supply and quality, creating safety hazards for personnel and potential tool damage during aircraft maintenance operations.
The specified air compressor must be a two-stage reciprocating unit rated at 25 HP (18.6 kW) with a 230/460V open drip proof motor and 460V E-Series starter, featuring a 120-gallon ASME-coded receiver tank and 175 psig rated pressure. The unit must deliver 82.0 cfm capacity (FAD), support 100% continuous duty operation, and have a pump life designed for over 15,000 hours of use with 100% cast iron construction. Key features include an air-cooled aftercooler, low oil level switch, electronic drain valve, dual control with centrifugal unloader, and use of All Season Select synthetic lubricant with 2,000-hour service intervals. The compressor will weigh approximately 1,951.62 pounds with dimensions of 76.0 inches length by 51.0 inches width by 62.0 inches height. The procurement scope includes the air compressor unit with included accessories (high dust filter silencer and standard installation kit), as well as electrical and mechanical installation incorporating all materials necessary to connect to existing facilities without facility modifications.

MEMORANDUM FOR 97 MX/MXOBP
FROM: 97AMW/MXMCF
SUBJECT: Air Compressor Replacements for Hangars 518
1. The 97th Maintenance Squadron is wanting to procure 1ea replacement air compressors used in performing aircraft maintenance. The air compressors will be used to replace the current worn, damaged air compressors. The current air compressors do not provide adequate air supply and quality. As a result, we experience excessive damage to tools and insufficient air supply required for use with the fall restraint systems. This creates safety hazards for personnel and potentially damaged tools.
