About this file
This is a Boeing Furnishing Fabrication Manual (TO 42F-1-2) containing detailed technical procedures for repair and fabrication of aircraft interior components including pad assemblies, curtain assemblies, and seat materials for military aircraft.
The manual provides comprehensive instructions for maintaining and fabricating mattress-crew-bunk pad assemblies (part number 17P1B2144-1), curtain assemblies for various aircraft locations (flight deck, crew berth, window, and main avionics rack), and seat materials for crew seats. For pad assemblies, procedures include inspection, cleaning, repair of damaged straps and fastener tapes, foam bonding using polyurethane and PVC foam with specified adhesives, and machine stitching requirements (5-7 stitches per inch per FED-STD-751). Curtain assembly fabrication involves cutting cloth per engineering drawings, serging edges, machine stitching (6-8 stitches per inch), and grommet installation per NASM16491. For seat materials, the manual covers upholstery assembly and foam fabrication for headrests, back cushions, and pan cushions, including hook and loop fastener installation per FED-STD-751 standards and flammability compliance per FAR 25.853(b) or (c). All procedures specify material specifications, adhesive requirements, stitching standards, thread types, and quality control parameters with references to applicable military and federal standards including DMS specifications, MIL standards, and FED-STD-751 for stitching methods.
