REPAIR AIRCRAFT MAINTENANCE FIRE SUPPRESSION SYSTEM – BUILDING 570

FA4418-10-R-0007

21 Aug 10

1. The existing heat detectors in the ceiling of the hangar do not appear to have the same spacing as the new design. The change in design would require a new conduit system in the ceiling. Would the Air Force be interested in possibly value engineering to replace the existing heat detectors as currently installed, or must we redo the conduit to provide spacing and placement as per the drawings?

· Response: The Specification and Drawings should be used as the reference for the purposes of bidding this project. Please see the attached As-Built drawings for additional information. (See Note below)

2. What is the work schedule for the project? Will it be standard work hours 7AM-5PM? Or will we have to work odd hours to accommodate work schedules?

· Response: Work hours are 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. as stated in the specifications section 01000 paragraph 1.3.1.

3. Will the building be occupied during construction?

· Response: The building will be partially occupied but operations will be suspended during the day to allow the contractor to work.

4. Where will our laydown area be? Will it be outside the rollup door on the west side of the building? Will we have to provide any security guards since this door is outside the flightline fence?

· Response: The staging area will most likely be outside the west side rollup door. Security guards should not be required.

5. Sheet FD03, photo 7: This tank has already been removed? Are we now just to patch the hole?

· Response: The tank has been removed and this change will be reflected in an addendum.

6. Sheet FA01, Notes that state "Replace fire alarm devices and appliances": Can you give us details of what is in this room and what his to be installed in these rooms?

· Response: Please see the posted As-Built drawings for additional information. (See Note below)

7. Sheet FA01, note S3: Can you provide an as-built condition (layout, counts, raceways, etc?) of the heat detectors so that we can properly plan on what is to be reused?

· Response: Please see the posted As-Built drawings for additional information. (See Note below)

8. Can you confirm the size of the existing UG fire loop that the existing 10" UG Fire Protection lead in is tied into? Additionally could you take pictures of the hangar structural steel (nose cone and main hangar areas) and the diesel containment curb and wall area to be patched (both outside and inside)?

· Response: Additionally, pictures of the diesel containment curb, wall area to be patched, and as-built drawings will be posted for information. (See Note below)

NOTE: The contractor must be aware that the Pictures and As-Built Drawing provided are for general reference/clarification purposes only and must not be relied upon to accurately depict any component of this Project.
