SITE VISIT QUESTIONS and RESPONSES
Q1: In each AHU room, the duct-mounted smoke detectors are installed in the coordinating HVAC duct. There are no notes on the drawings concerning duct-mounted smoke detectors. If they cannot be installed in the exact same location, will the fire alarm system need to be recertified and retested as part of this project’s scope?
A1: The existing duct smoke detectors are to remain. If the ductwork changes at the smoke detector, the existing duct smoke detectors shall be removed and reinstalled in the new ductwork.
Detectors shall be tested prior to removal and retested after they have been reinstalled.
