ADDITIONAL QUESTIONS & ANSWERS 2

17 May 16

Question 18: Sheet AS-1 has a legend for the river rock, sod, etc., but doesn't designate what is adjacent to the sidewalk at the front that abuts the river rock. Please provide a legend.

Answer: Sheet AS-1 legend indicates Liriope Spicata, 1 Gallon 12" O.C.

Question 19: Sheet S-1 of "Construct JTC/TRS Facility" indicates the girt deflection be designed for L/420 (note 6.06 B) which highly unusual. Typically, we see this criterion as L/240.

Please address as this makes a major difference with the metal building manufacturer.

Answer: The girt deflection criteria of L/600 is what is recommended by the Brick Industry Association (see Tech Note TN28B). It helps that Service Loads may be used to compute the deflection (they are 0.6 of Ultimate) and the wind load may be reduced to 0.7 of Service Load per International Building Code. That’s where the L/420 comes from. It is 0.7(600)=420.

Question 20: Sheet S-1 of "23 STS Mobility Storage Facility" indicates the wall girt deflection be designed for L/600 (note 4.05 A) which is even more unusual.

Ditto the above comments.

Note: New specifications were added for FTEV 10-1299 on 13 May 2016. The changes that were made were due to questions addressed in the previously posted Responses to Questions and Additional Responses to Questions.
