27. FOLLOW UP QUESTION TO PREVIOUS QUESTION #17 –

The plans show to remove the connection between the ground rod and the light base can. It will be very costly to do this because the lights are in paved shoulders, and most likely the ground rod is also under the pavement. To remove the connection, we will have to either cut or core the pavement, then seal and/or replace the pavement. Either way it is going to be a very expensive operation for simply disconnecting a grounding connection.

ANSWER: The can must only be grounded to the new safety ground conductor run with the series lighting circuit. Removal of the ground conductor is required.
