About this file

This is a Questions and Answers document for a Request for Quote (RFQ) for a transformer to be procured by Scott Air Force Base in Illinois.

The Government requires delivery of a transformer to Scott AFB, IL with no specific delivery date mandated, as the unit will serve as a backup asset. Critically, the transformer must be manufactured with copper windings, despite UFC 3-550-01's general preference for aluminum windings; Scott AFB has exercised its authority under local design standards to require copper windings specifically. All other technical requirements outlined in the solicitation documents and specification sheet must be met. The RFQ response deadline has been extended to June 12, 2026 at 1200 Central Standard Time.

Text version

1. Where will this item be shipped?

Answer: Scott AFB, IL

2. Could you please advise if there is a specific required delivery date or timeframe for this requirement?

Answer: There is not a specific date that they need the transformer delivered by, as this is going to be used as their backup.

3. After reviewing the solicitation documents, specification sheet, and amendments, we were unable to identify whether the Government requires:

• Copper Windings, or

• Aluminum Windings Could you please confirm if there is a specific winding material requirement for this transformer, or if either copper or aluminum windings would be acceptable provided the unit complies with all other technical requirements outlined in the solicitation?

Answer: The UFC 3-550-01 has a general mandate to use of aluminum windings over copper windings. But it does say bases can have a preference on local design standards to what we prefer. Copper windings is required.

4. Amendment to extend RFQ to 12 June 2026 @ 1200 CST
