About this file

This is an Amendment 03 to a Request for Quote (RFQ) issued by the Department of the Air Force, 375th Contracting Squadron (AMC), dated June 3, 2026, for a 750kVA 3-Phase Transformer (SAM RFQ # FA440726Q1000).

The amendment formally addresses a submitted question regarding winding material requirements for the transformer. The contractor inquired whether copper or aluminum windings would be acceptable, provided all other technical requirements were met. The Contracting Officer clarified that while UFC 3-550-01 mandates aluminum windings as the general standard, bases retain the authority to establish local design preferences. Scott Air Force Base specifically prefers copper windings for this procurement. Contractors should direct any additional questions to Margret West (margret.west@us.af.mil) or Chris Greene (chris.greene.33@us.af.mil) at the 375th Contracting Squadron, 201 E Winters Drive, Building 50, Scott AFB, IL 62225-5015.

3 June 2026

MEMORANDUM FOR RECORD

FROM: 375 CONS/PKB

201 E WINTERS DR. BLDG 50

SCOTT AFB IL 62225-5015

SUBJECT: Amendment 03 for RFQ – FY26 750kVA 3-Phase Transformer

– SAM RFQ # FA440726Q1000

The purpose of this Amendment 02 is to formally address and respond to the second submitted question on this RFQ.

QUESTION: Could you please confirm if there is a specific winding material requirement for this transformer, or if either copper or aluminum windings would be acceptable provided the unit complies with all other technical requirements outlined in the solicitation?

ANSWER: The UFC 3-550-01 has a general mandate to use of aluminum windings over copper windings. But it does say bases can have a preference on local design standards to what we prefer. We prefer the copper windings.

If you have any questions, please send margret.west@us.af.mil or chris.greene.33@us.af.mil an email.
