About this file

This document is a Request for Information (RFI) for the Bldg 1812 Glycol Line Repair and System Refill project, solicitation number FA440726Q0001. The RFI focuses on a glycol system repair for a condenser water system, with specific details including the need to increase glycol concentration from 5-10% to 30% using propylene glycol. The project involves system repairs, with Pump #7 included in the scope, and will require a stand-alone isolated pressure test and flow verification.

Key requirements include using deionized water for the initial system fill, focusing specifically on the condenser system, while the heating and cooling systems will only receive rust inhibitor. The government is open to contractor suggestions for repairs, and the RFI responses clarify that the boiler is not part of this repair project. The RFI is issued by the 375th Contracting Squadron, with the RFI response due date set for 14 November 2025 at 2 PM, and responses provided on 11/13/2025 by government representatives.

To restore the system back to full operational capacity; Is this proposal to include the repairs necessary on the boiler that is out of service? PWS 1.2 No, the boiler is not included in the repair. Pump #7 is included in the repair. 11/13/2025

Is this a broad statement that refers to all three of the separate systems in the building?

(Condenser water, Chilled water & Heating Hot water) PWS 2.2

Yes only the condenser system would have 30% glycol the heating and cooling sytems would only have rust inhibitor. 11/13/2025

If this is a broad statement referring to all three systems, is it the contractors responsibility to determine the total system capacity of each of the three systems to calculate the amount of glycol needed to meet the 30% requirement? PWS 2.2

Yes only the condenser system would have 30% glycol the heating and cooling sytems would only have rust inhibitor. 11/13/2025

The current glycol feed pump can supply two of the three systems. Is the objective to supply and install an additional single pump glycol feed system to supply the third system? PWS 2.2 The pump would only feed the condenser system which would have 30% glycol. 11/13/2025

5 Is base water or deionized water to be used to make up the other 70% of the system fill? PWS 2.2 Condenser sytem would need the deionized water for the initial fill of the condenser system. 11/13/2025

Is this referring to a working pressure test under normal operating conditions or a stand-alone isolated pressure test? PWS 2.4 stand-alone isolated pressure test to check for any leaks in the system. 11/13/2025

7 Does “flow testing” refer to flow verification of each of the three systems utilizing TAB? PWS 2.4 Yes to check for proper gpm's that was in the initial stsrt up of the systems. 11/13/2025

8 Does the glycol system need to be connected to the hot and chilled water system? No the system will not have glycol. 11/13/2025

9 Can the contractor propose a fix to the existing glycol feed system so that it works properly? Yes 11/13/2025

Will we be allowed to describe in our bid what we propose to do for our proposal price and will this take precedent over your performance work statement?

We are open to suggestions from the contractors about the best way forward with the repairs. 11/13/2025

What is the percentage of glycol needed and are we responsible to bring up the existing system up to the percentage needed?

The condenser system is at 10% , system need to be dumped and replaced with new glycol to 30%. 11/13/2025

If we are responsible to bring up the existing system to the percentage needed, what is the volume of the existing system( in gallons)? We are not sure how much glycol is needed. 11/13/2025 13 What type of glycol is needed? propylene 11/13/2025 14 What percentage glycol is in the current system? The condensor system has 5 to 10% 11/13/2025
