QUESTIONS & ANSWERS #2
Question 1: Per 2.2.14 Specifies 20 % sparing for the patch panels. In Section 2.2.15 the government specified 3-48 port and 1-24 port patch panels which is 168 ports. Per Attachent 6 B-
3620 requires 244 drop time 1.2% = 292.8 ports. This means the government would need six 48 port patch panels and one 24 port patch panel (and associated wire management for building 3620.
a. Is the government waiving the 20% sparing for B-3620?
b. Is the government going to supply the additional cat 6 patch panels
c. Is the government going to supply the additional wire management.
Government Response: Please provide six 48 port patch panels and one 24 port patch panel as required
Question 2: Based on the government’s Revised Drawing 2. The current design between manhole
464-8-1 and B-3621 has a hand hole and three (3) 90 degree bends in it. According to the I3A section
3.6.4.4 and table # 2 the maximum distance from the Hand hole to the building containing 3 bends is
250 feet. The current design (location of the Hand hole) exceeds 250 feet. Based on the current drawing, the Hand hole is over 350 feet from building 3620.
a. Is the government going to waive the I3A requirement of a maximum footage with three
90 degree bends in this section?
b. Is the government going to waive the I3A manderling requirement in this section of conduit?
Government Response: No, the government is not going to waive the I3A requirement. The drawing will be updated to add a newly proposed hand hole that will reduce the number of 90 degree bends so as to comply with I3A standards.
Question 3: On the government’s Drawing 2, the current design between the hand hole and B-3621 has two (2) 4” pipes each. Currently there are two (2) Conex trailers/storage buildings in the pathway.
The current Google Earth shows the location of these two trailers.
a. Does the government want the contractor to place these two pipes in the asphalt street to avoid the conex trailers?
b. Are these going to be there when the project begins?
c. Is the government going to have these moved?
d. Will the contractor be responsible for moving these two trailers?
Government Response: We have verified that there are no current structures in the pathway as described.
