JOB DESCRIPTION

POSITION TITLE: Parachute Packer

WORK CENTER: Survival Equipment

SUPERVISOR: Leadman, Survival

RESPONSIBILITIES SHALL INCLUDE BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:

Inspects, cleans, repairs and repacks both personal and drogue parachutes. Replaces or repairs canopies, risers, harnesses, and related hardware. Operates the parachute actuator tester and operates sewing machines. Practices good housekeeping, tool control, FOD awareness/prevention, and safety at all times. Shall assist other personnel and work centers as directed. Must promote company values, policies, and standards of conduct. Must be customer-oriented and ensure professional coordination with Operations and other base agencies. Shall perform other duties assigned to include TDY and travel. Must be able to work day shift, or weekend duty as required. Receives cross-utilization training and is qualified to perform those maintenance tasks.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

A working knowledge of parachutes and component parts and use of associated tools is required.

Completion of a formal parachute rigger course is required. High school diploma or the equivalent is required. Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English. Two years recent experience in aircraft survival equipment maintenance is required. Good communication skills and the ability to work with Air Force personnel on a daily basis are required. May be required to obtain and maintain a class CDL. Physical exertion requirement is heavy.
