About this file
This is a Questions and Answers document for solicitation FA302026Q0117 regarding Portable UHF Radios. The document addresses an inquiry regarding acceptable radio models for the Air Force procurement.
The Q&A clarifies that the Falcon IV AN/PRC-163 radio is an acceptable alternative to the originally specified Falcon III AN/PRC-152A. The question was raised because the Falcon III AN/PRC-152A was announced as end of life in May, requires a two-year lead time for necessary hardware updates, and is no longer recommended for Air Force procurement. The government confirmed that the Falcon IV AN/PRC-163, which exceeds the stated requirements, is acceptable for use in this solicitation.

Subject: Solicitation # FA302026Q0117 – Portable UHF Radios Questions and Answers
Q1. The Falcon III AN/PRC-152A was announced as end of life back in May of this year. As part of a hardware update we have to make to the radio to keep it alive it also has a 2 year lead time. For that reason we aren’t recommending anyone in the AF buy the radio. The alternative secure option is going to be the Falcon IV AN/PRC-163 which will significantly exceed the requirements listed. Is the Falcon IV AN/PRC-163 model acceptable.
A1. Yes, the Falcon IV AN/PRC-163 radios are acceptable.
