RESPONSES TO QUESTIONS

RFQ# FA301620U0253

1. Is the original barrel still operational?

GOVERNMENT RESPONSE:

It may or may not be. The garage door is bolted into place and has about three feet of space at the bottom where sheet metal had to be placed in order to seal off the rest of the garage door. The current garage door does not come all the way down and is bolted into place and the sheet metal covers the remaining 3 foot gap. No tracks are present. (See Section 1.2 of amended SOW)

2. Will button operation be required?

Yes, should be able to push a button and open or close the garage door. When you remove your finger from the push button the garage door should stop in place (in current position). (See Section 1.3.2 of amended SOW)

3. Does it require a specific motor to operate the garage door?

No, but has to be the recommended size, voltage, and phase to accommodate new door weight. (See Section 1.3.4 of amended SOW)

4. Does the disconnect require replacement too?

Yes, the current one is broke in half. (See Section 1.3.1 and 1.3.2 of amended SOW)

5. Will new guides being requested and if so, what are the procedures for welding authorization?

Welding is authorized, just need to make sure a Hot works permit is submitted. The entire door including tracks (guides) need to be installed Section 1.3.2 and 1.6 Safety

6. If old guides are unable to be removed and new guides weld in a full day, will the government be responsible for securing the Hanger overnight?

GOVERNMENT RESPONSE:

If the contractor cannot secure the building at the end of the day, the contractor has to provide an 8’ tall link fence and all accessories in order to install it with one of the following options:

• Run an 8’ tall chain link fence the width of the door and secure on both sides. It can be tack welded to the tracks and cut off the next day.

• If that is not an option then contractor can utilize two (2) metal poles with a square plate anchored to the concrete and the fence attached to both poles.

• Or secure the fence to the metal beams of the building. (see SOW Section 1.3.9).
