Industry Generated Questions and Answers 25 August 2020

Question 1 – We host the end user's training in our secure, AWS cloud, including training data. This requires access to the internet via WiFi with the headsets. Beyond the actual stand- alone headset, no other hardware is required.

Answer – There is a requirement identified in the Deliverables section of the SOW for 4 (EA) headsets with storage space for the training material. There is no approval for cloud based training. The network requirement approval is for a stand-alone system that does not require internet dependency. Therefore, use of cloud based training is not technically acceptable.

Question 2 – What type of WiFi connection is available in your training room? NIPR or Commercial?

Answer – Commercial. This is to be a stand-alone system; use of commercial Wi-Fi for network connections is not approved or technically acceptable.

Question 2b – If none, is your expectation to have this solution setup and hosted in a closed on-prem network?”

Answer – We will have a PREM network, meaning the system will be within the organization. Cloud based training is not listed on the SOW.

Question 3 – No commercial internet connection required, understood. However, can we setup a closed WiFi LAN, we would provide a stand-alone laptop and router, nothing would connect to the internet?

Answer – No since the headsets are self-contained with the data, we would not require a router.

Question 4 – It seems two scenarios are identical (Fire Suppression and Fall Protection); please clarify.

Answer – The Fire Suppression scenario originally listed incorrect elements. The Statement of Work (SOW) has been updated (dated 25 August 2020) to reflect the correction in the required Fire Suppression scenario elements.

FIRE SUPPRESSION scenarios shall the have following elements:

• Seeing a fire

• Pulling a fire alarm

• Reaching for a fire extinguisher

• Pulling the pin

• Squeezing the trigger

• Using the PASS system (Pull, Aim, Squeeze, & Sweep)

• Maintain proper distance from the fire

• Know when to move away from a fire

• Check pressure gauges

• Refine their technique and retry if they fail

• View final grade after completion of training

Question 5 – For the VR Headset - we have partnerships with HP and Microsoft that enable us to get hardware before it hits the market. One of these headsets is set to be announced in Q3 this year, and includes bio-analytics. Depending on the training you are trying to achieve, is this a feature that you are interested in?

Answer – No.

Question 6 – I see a request for four Software Modules. Are you able to share any more information regarding the training initiatives so that I may accurately quote this with my team of in-house developers?

Answer – Please see Section 2 in the SOW for information on the software modules.

4 (EA) Software Modules. The VR software modules shall have the following specifications:

o Pre-installed software modules onto the headsets o Realistic virtual reality training environment o Sounds coming from specific sources in the VR training environment o Monitor progress of student actions during training o Create virtual reality training area within the physical room o Display safety message on the proper use of the headsets before training starts

CONFINED SPACE scenarios shall the have following elements:

o Locate and read the site permit o Use and atmospheric meter to measure percentage levels of the following:

o Lower Explosive Limit o Oxygen o Carbon Monoxide o Hydrogen Sulfide2 o Carbon Dioxide o Deploy an air blower/snorkel with positive pressure o Call for a hole watch o Enter the Confined Space for possible gas leak, and emergency rescue o View final grade after completion of training

FIRE SUPPRESSION scenarios shall the have following elements:

o Seeing a fire o Pulling a fire alarm o Reaching for a fire extinguisher o Pulling the pin o Squeezing the trigger o Using the PASS system (Pull, Aim, Squeeze, & Sweep) o Maintain proper distance from the fire o Know when to move away from a fire o Check pressure gauges o Refine their technique and retry if they fail o View final grade after completion of training

Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) scenarios shall have the following elements:

o Identify proper locks and tags o Identify hazardous energized equipment that requires lock-out tag-out o Notify employees o Apply locks, devices, and tags in the correct order o Navigate a virtual scenario with energized equipment o Properly service the equipment, remove locks and tags o Bring equipment back on-line o View final grade after completion of training

FALL PROTECTION scenarios shall have the following elements:

o Inspect gear and personal protective equipment for damage o Put on your harness and lanyard o Learn proper technique for identifying anchor points in the tutorial area o Navigate a construction site o Look out for hazards o Ability to fall or injure co-workers o Attach lanyard properly while securing tools at height o View final grade after completion of training

Question 7 – Is the government looking for a Commercial Off The Shelf (COTS) solution?

Answer – Yes

Question 8 – If the expectation is that some software development will be required, when is the expected delivery date?

Answer – We are looking for a (COTS) so there was no expectation of software development.

Question 9 – Given that the government will not pay any initial or ongoing license fee, what is the expectation for maintenance and support for the software modules?

Answer – IAW Addendum to clause at FAR 52.212-4 and the SOW, a minimum of one (1) year standard warranty for hardware replacement and software updates as needed shall be included.

Question 10 – Will the chosen vendor retain Intellectual Property (IP) of the software modules?

Answer – Yes

Question 11 – What type of virtual reality environment is envisioned for these 4 software modules? Is there a requirement for it to reflect a specific worksite, or will a more generic environment suffice?

Answer – Generic will work so long as the VR software is in accordance with Occupational Safety and Health Administration regulations, to include 29 Code of Federal Regulations 1910.147 “The Control of Hazardous Energy (Lockout/Tagout)” and Confined Space (as specified in Section 1 of the SOW).

Question 12 – Can you confirm that the requirement for 2 tablet connectors is analogous to “docking stations” for a device such as a Microsoft Surface Pro?

Answer – If the vendor means similar or comparable and it does the same function, yes.

Question 13 – Is there a correction to the SOW available for the Fire Suppression trainer? It appears the text for that trainer was copied from the Fall Protection.

Answer – Yes. See updated SOW effective 25 August 2020 and answer to Question 4 above.

Question 14 – What is the expected use of the tablets? Since the Oculus Quest headset is fully self contained, external devices are not required to run applications on it; Our assumption therefore is that the tablet would be used to provide some form of real time feedback to an instructor during the training process, is that correct?

Answer – Yes to reflect the image to the TV in the classroom so the students can see the training.

Question 14b – If so, what is the anticipated form that would take? 2D information such as a list of objectives achieved/missed, or is a full view from the headset desired?

Answer – Both the training and the training results after the training is completed.

Question 15 – Would any of the trainers require multiple trainees to be interacting with each other in the same virtual world at once?

Answer – No, just the one student.
