SECTION 22-1
22.1. SURVIVAL EQUIPMENT SERVICES
22.1.1. DESCRIPTION OF SERVICES: The Survival Equipment maintenance section provides the base with a wide variety of services. Repair, inspect, maintain and manufacture fabric, leather and rubberized items. Provide flight clothing maintenance to ten organizations on Maxwell-Gunter AFB, DCASPRO test facility in Birmingham, and Air Force instructor pilots assigned to Ft. Rucker. Provide maintenance support for commercial Adult/Child life preservers. Perform leakage tests/repairs on the flotation equipment ensuring it will function as designed should aircraft make an over water flight or make an emergency landing in water. Provide all survival equipment services in accordance with applicable directives listed in Appendix 22A.
22.1.2. SERVICES TO BE PROVIDED:
22.1.2.1. SURVIVAL EQUIPMENT MANAGEMENT:
22.1.2.1.1. Input and maintain accurate data in CAMS.
22.1.2.1.2. Ensure an effective tool control program.
22.1.2.1.3. Maintain a custodial equipment accountability file.
22.1.2.1.4. Maintain Technical Order (T.O.) and Publication file necessary for proper SE maintenance.
22.1.2.1.5. Develop, implement, and maintain an effective Lockout/Tagout program.
22.1.2.1.6. Maintain Supply control log.
22.1.2.2. FLIGHT CLOTHING SERVICES:
22.1.2.2.1. Inspect/maintain/repair aircrew flight clothing.
22.1.2.3. FLOTATION EQUIPMENT SERVICES:
22.1.2.3.1. Inspect/maintain/repair flotation equipment.
22.1.2.3.2. Requisition carbon-dioxide cylinders and bottles.
22.1.2.4. EQUIPMENT MAINTENANCE:
22.1.2.4.1. Transport TMDE to and from PMEL for calibration/repair.
22.1.2.4.2. Document and maintain support equipment maintenance records.
22.1.2.4.3. Periodic inspections on support equipment IAW the appropriate T.O.(s).
22.1.2.4.4. Repair inoperable equipment; replace components, parts, etc.
22.1.2.4.5. Complete documentation associated with the requisition or turn-in of supply items, preparation of items for shipment prior to turn-in.
22.1.2.4.6. Comply with expenditure limits contained in T.O.s 00-20-3, 00-25-240, and 35-1-26.
22.1.2.4.7. Maintain support equipment in operational condition.
22.1.2.5. LOCAL MANUFACTURE:
22.1.2.5.1. Locally manufacture fabric, leather, and rubberized items, as needed for SE services.
