About this file
This is a Request for Information (RFI) Questions and Answers document related to an entrance door replacement project involving the installation of an automatic sliding door with access control systems.
The government responses address eight contractor inquiries covering critical project specifications and site conditions. Paint color matching is the contractor's responsibility. Building occupants may use alternative entrances (back door of command suite and first/second floor egress doors) during the main entrance replacement. The existing wall construction is a combination of CMU/cinder block and metal stud framing, with the contractor responsible for verifying all existing conditions prior to work execution. The new keypad/access control system will operate as a standalone system with no integration into existing government security systems. The contractor bears responsibility for all electrical work necessary to comply with NEC, ADA/ABA, and UFC requirements, though the government cannot currently confirm existing circuit capacity. The contractor is permitted to remove and reinstall the existing Stanley brand lock core. The door frame finish specification is clarified as an anodized aluminum frame with bronze colored stain. The finished ceiling height to the second-floor slab above measures approximately 39 inches.

RFI # RFI Government Response 1 Paint Color / Touch-Up Can the
Government provide the existing interior and exterior paint color and/or paint specifications for the areas surrounding the existing door so the Contractor can properly match the required touch-up and restoration work?
Contractor would have to source and color match the paint.
2 Building Access During Door Replacement During demolition and installation of the new entrance door, will building occupants be permitted to use another entrance for ingress and egress while the main entrance is temporarily out of service?
Building occupants are permitted to use the back door of the command suite to ingress and use the first and second floor egress doors.
3 Existing Wall / Door Opening Construction Can the Government confirm the existing wall construction surrounding the door opening?
Specifically, is the existing door frame installed within CMU/cinder block construction, metal stud framing, or a combination of both?
A combination of both; however, it shall remain the Contractor’s responsibility to verify all existing conditions, dimensions, and requirements prior to execution of the work.
4 Access Control System Please confirm whether the new keypad/access control system is intended to operate as a standalone system or be tied into an existing Government access control/security system. If a tie-in is required, please identify the existing system and Government point of connection.
This is a standalone system.
5 Electrical Power / Low-Voltage Connection Please identify the existing electrical power source and low-voltage connection point intended to serve the new automatic sliding door, keypad, electronic locking hardware, and sensors.
Please also confirm whether the existing circuits have sufficient capacity for the new system.
The Contractor shall be responsible for any electrical work incidental to the installation of the doors, as necessary to comply with the latest applicable NEC, ADA/ABA, and UFC requirements. However, based on the information currently available, a complete determination cannot be made at this time.
6 Existing Lock Core The PWS requires reinstallation of the existing locking core into the new door hardware. Please confirm the manufacturer/type of the existing core and whether the Contractor will be permitted to remove and reinstall the core, or whether this work must be performed by Government security/locksmith personnel.
Contractor is permitted to remove and reinstall the core.
Existing core is Stanley brand.
7 Door Frame / Finish Clarification Please clarify the required finish for the new automatic sliding door frame. Section
3.3.2 specifies glass doors with durable bronze trim, while DEL-03 references anodized aluminum frames. Please provide the required color/finish specification for bidding purposes.
Finish should be anodized aluminum frame with a bronze colored stain to it
8 What is the height from the finished ceiling to the slab above (the underside of the second-floor slab)?
Distance is measured at approximately thirty-nine (39) inches
