About this file

This is a Questions and Answers (Q&A) document for a federal contract opportunity regarding hood and duct cleaning services at multiple facilities.

The contract is not a new requirement and represents a recompetition of previous contract FA255021P0009, previously held by American Hood & Duct Cleaning Inc, with no changes to the general scope of work. Contractors are not required to hold IKECA certifications to perform the cleanings. The Gaylord exhaust hoods in Building 300 (Dining Hall) are standard baffle filter hoods, not water wash systems requiring specialized plumbing maintenance. Access panels already exist on the duct run over the grill in Building 300; however, the Q&A does not fully address whether access panels exist throughout all duct runs in Buildings 60 and 717 or whether contractors bear responsibility for installing additional panels. Work will be performed during daytime hours with access available, requiring contractors to coordinate schedules 14 days in advance despite the active food service environment. Site photos and schematic drawings of hood and duct configurations for the three buildings were unavailable due to timeline restrictions, making site visits the primary means for prospective contractors to assess the facilities.

Number Question

Iis a new requirement? What is the contractor’s name and the previous contract number? Additionally, are there any notable changes to the scope of work compared to the prior award?

Are you requiring IKECA certifications to perform the cleanings?

Equipment Specifications (PWS 1.2): The table in Section 1.2 lists two "Gaylord" exhaust systems for Building 300 (Dining Hall). Can the Government provide the specific model numbers for these units? Specifically, are these "Water Wash" systems (which require specialized plumbing maintenance) or standard baffle filter hoods?

Duct Access (PWS 1.3.2): The PWS requires cleaning the full "duct exhaust system". Are there existing access panels installed throughout the duct runs in Building 300, 60, and 717, or will the contractor be responsible for installing new access panels to reach all areas of the ductwork?

Work Hours (PWS 1.2): The PWS mentions coordinating a schedule 14 days in advance. Since these are active food service facilities, is the work required to be performed exclusively during nights or weekends, or will daytime access be available?

Site Photos: Since attendance at the site visit is optional, can the Government provide photos or schematic drawings of the hood and duct configurations for the three buildings (Bldg 300, 60, and 717)?
