FA255019RA011 - B400 Elevators RFI 002

Questions:

1) Freight Elevator Doors – Please refer to 05_-_GLEN19

2013_Design_Analysis_Redacted(RS) 5.5 Code Review and Understanding of “Freight

Elevators” “d. To accomplish this, applicable codes will dictate a few upgrades

/modifications. However, the primary upgrade required to the freight elevator is the substitution of Car Gates with Car Doors. Fundamentally, the two operate the same. The difference being that the Car Door is solid so to minimize pinch-points and “severing-points”.”

This is text from the design analysis is consistent with the contract drawings except for one detail that shows the elevator doors sliding rather than rising. Detail 3/A-100 is pasted below for ease of reference.

There is no option to provide a sliding door in one location and vertical doors at the other levels. Please confirm that all the doors on the freight elevator (Elevator 03) can be vertical rising doors.

Government Response: Yes all doors for the freight elevator should be the same vertical rising doors.

2) Elevator Pads - APPENDIX B – PRODUCT INFORMATION SHEETS (p79) includes

“Palmer Protective Elevator Pads.” Are these to be included for the walls in the freight elevator (Elevator 03)?

Government Response: No

3) Walls in freight Elevator (Elevator 03) Cab – It is unclear from the scope of work what the new cabs for the Freight Elevator (Elevator 03) are to be made of / finished. We would suggest steel walls if this is acceptable. Please advise.

Government Response: Yes steel walls are acceptable.

4) Flooring in cabs - It is unclear from the scope of work what the new floors in each of the cabs are to be made of / finished. Please advise.

Government Response: Please see page 96 of the design analysis for the basis of design for the freight elevator flooring. The flooring of the 3 passenger elevators should match that of the hallway.

5) Question regarding the frequency of routine servicing during the one-year warranty period.

Government Response: The contractor shall perform routine servicing of the elevators in accordance with the manufacturer recommendation/safety requirements.

File details come from the government source that posted it.
