RFI for 743 ARMAG Fiber Install

1. How far does the cable extend into each building?

Depending on where the terminal will be (identified to be at the close right corner near the entrance door) there will be a 6ft maintenance loop inside the ARMAG, terminated on _____(to be identified) and a 10ft maintenance loop in bldg. 1617 to the termination point in the rack; this can be pointed out and ID’d at the site visit.

2. What type of fiber connectors are required?

LC-UPC Connectors

3. How will the 2” conduit enter the ARMAG building?

Break through the concrete in front of the bldg., insert conduit, then cover that with concrete. This will be an option CLIN, meaning contractors will provide estimates, but we will not agree to that CLIN being performed until we exercise it.

4. Do the footages provided in the SOW include the required services loops?

Yes. See SOW Para 2.1

5. What is the total quantity of manholes in the existing route?

There are 8 existing manholes/pull boxes/hand holes (however you prefer to identify them). The approximated distance between last manhole and ARMAG will be determined by Mr. Milstead, but it is the contractor’s responsibility to confirm the distance depending on how they choose to lay the conduit.

6. What is the soil type where the trenching is required? (soft, hard, rock) Sandy/Clay mixture, there are small rocks on top.

7. Will any directional boring be required?

Boring will only be required if you intend to travel across a road; you will have to bore beneath it. Outside of this, boring is optional.

8. Would the Government please verify the footage of the pathway that required (1) Maxcell and (2) Maxcell innerducts.

Because the route chosen to lay conduit it decided by the contractor, this will be verified at site visit on Friday, 20 August, time TBD.

9. What are the Bonding Requirements?

All bonding requirements must meet the NEC and commercial comm codes if they are installing metallic conduit and/or cable with a metal strength member/shielding.

10. Will the 12 Strand fiber-optic material be provided, or will the contractor be responsible for procuring the material?

The contractor should provide the fiber cable.

Questions as of 25 August 2021

1. Is HDP Role acceptable in place of PVC?

HDP Role will not be acceptable in place of PVC Pipe; PVC pipe is the standard.

2. What is the guideline for filling with soil?

Must maintain soft fill – don’t crush rock into the conduit.

3. Will there be access to a fire hydrant for water access?

Yes, but will have to coordinate with the government

4. Is there any intent to add additional 10% slack?

No, 50ft is enough.

5. Regarding the concrete removed that the contractor will be responsible to replace, what is the total sq footage of concrete that will need to be replaced?

The sq footage will be about roughly 2ft x 10ft or about 20 sqft. Contractor is responsible for measurements.

6. 1617 building…is there a patch panel in the building already? Or will one need to be installed?

See SOW Para 2.2

7. Is there a specific spec on the patch panel being requested?

See SOW Para 2.2
