About this file

This file is a Questions and Answers (Q&A) document for the 25th Space Squadron Ku and C Band satellite communications services contract. The document addresses technical specifications for satellite bandwidth, specifically focusing on minimum Effective Isotropic Radiated Power (EIRP) and Gain/Temperature (G/T) requirements for Ku and C-band services.

The Q&A clarifies that the government seeks commercial satellite communication (COMSATCOM) transponded bandwidth for range testing and evaluation in CONUS, Alaska, and Hawaii. The desired minimum EIRP is 41 dBW or higher, with a G/T of 1 dB/K or higher for the specified regions. The procurement anticipates a 12-month base period with two optional six-month extensions, beginning August 15, 2025. The government is open to alternative satellite capacity proposals if vendors cannot meet the exact specified technical parameters, demonstrating flexibility in potential solutions for this United States Space Force requirement.

Question #QuestionAnswer
1The EIRP and G/T listed for Ku and C-band looked to be the same. Should the values be different and which ones should we review? -Ku -band: v. EIRP 41 dBW or higher G/T 1 dB/K or Higher for CONUS, Alaska and Hawaii -C-band: v. EIRP 41 dBW or higher G/T 1 dB/K or Higher for CONUS, Alaska and HawaiiThe values for Ku and C band are the desired minimum EIRP. The government would like to know the availability of coverage and bandwidth meeting this requirement. The requirement is for the purchase of both C-band and Ku-Band Bandwidth. Should lower values be required in order to provide C band capacity, the Government will accept information about the highest values that can be supported by current C band satellites.
