Inspect, Maintain and Repair Cranes/Hoists, Patrick AFB, FL

QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS

Attachment 7

Q1: Do you need a liquid penetrant or magnetic particle on the hook (Ref: PWS Section 1.1)

A1: Non-Destructive Inspection (NDI) methodology (i.e. magnetic particle, liquid penetrant, etc.) is not prescribed by the Air Force, nor OSHA. Contractor may utilize whichever method they deem most effective. Any solvents, lubricants, or other chemicals utilized in this process must be identified prior to use, and Base Environmental Engineering must be informed.

Q2. Who supplies the lifts?

A2. Any ladders, lifts, or high-reach equipment must be provided by the contractor.

Q3. Can weights be brought inside the buildings?

A3. All facilities with Category 1 Cranes/Hoists have sufficient area to bring a vehicle and/or trailer with weights in and out for testing.

Q4. What is the procedure for the scheduling of the inspections of cranes/hoists at Patrick Air Force Base?

A4. Prior to maintenance/inspection visit, Contractor will provide COR and/or CO with a proposed schedule of all work to be performed during that visit.

That schedule will be provided to Facility Managers to assure that there are no conflicts, and/or provide possible alternative times for the maintenance/inspections.

Once a schedule is agreed upon, it will be resent to Facility Managers, and should be strictly adhered to, barring any emergency or unforeseen circumstances

Q5. Will a laydown area be provided?

A5. Laydown area will be provided for contractor vehicles and/or equipment. Current laydown area is in the West parking lot of Building 1060. This is also the location of the Contracting Officer Representative (COR) office, which will expedite sign-in/sign-out process.
