Project Title: Mobile Shelving Upgrade
11 July 2025
1. Background:
The Peterson Space Force Base (SFB) Youth Center (YC), Building 1555, is upgrading its existing high-density storage by converting its electric mobile shelving system to a manual, hand-crank system. This project involves removing all electronic components and replacing them with manual parts to create a more reliable and user-friendly storage solution for personnel and children. This Statement of Work (SOW) details the requirements for supplying and installing the components necessary to convert the existing mobile shelving into a manual, hand-crank operation.
2. Objectives:
The goal is to improve storage room operations by converting the existing electric mobile shelving system to a manual hand-crank system. This upgrade will result in a safer, more accessible, and better-organized storage space while maximizing storage capacity through an efficient hand-crank operation.
3. Scope:
This contract covers the complete conversion of the existing mobile shelving system in the storage room at the Peterson SFB Youth Center, Building 1555, from electric to manual hand-crank operation. This includes the supply, delivery, removal of the existing electric control mechanism, and installation of the manual hand-crank system. The converted system will maximize utilization of the available space. If needed, the current tracks of the mobile shelves shall be repaired to ensure the smooth operation of the newly installed manual hand-crank system. Following installation, the contractor will conduct testing to verify the shelving unit's structural integrity, smooth operation, and compliance with all applicable safety requirements. This includes verifying the presence and proper function of a visual safety indicator to confirm the unit is locked. The manual hand-crank system must integrate seamlessly with the existing shelving and track system. The hand cranks must be ergonomically designed for ease of use. The Contractor is responsible for providing all labor, materials, and equipment necessary to complete the installation and for ensuring the installed system meets all relevant safety standards, including stability and resistance to tipping.
General Safety Requirements:

If the Contractor fails or refuses to make such repair or replacement, the Contractor shall be liable for the cost, which may be deducted from the contract price.
5. Site Maintenance and Cleanup
The Contractor shall protect the work area, and if necessary, adjacent areas, from dust, dirt, or other materials. All work areas will be maintained in a neat, clean, and safe condition and shall, at a minimum, be cleaned at the end of every workday during installation. All passageways in/or adjacent to the site shall always remain free of project generated trash and debris.
