12 October 2018

Rev 2

This acquisition is for a Vacuum Standard Kit (VSK) to be used as a reference standard for the measurement of less accurate vacuum gauges. The VSK will be capable of measuring vacuum levels from 100 Torr to 1 x 10-3 Torr. The VSK shall consist of no more than two transducers and one display.

2.0 Performance Requirements

2.1 Measuring Range: The VSK shall be capable of measuring vacuum levels, at a minimum, from 100 to lxl0-3 Torr.

2.2 Operational Range: The VSK shall be capable of operating from 1000 to lxl0-8 Torr.

2.3 Accuracy: The accuracy of the VSK shall be± 0.75% of Reading or better at any desired set point within the measuring range. The VSK shall maintain accuracy for at least 12 months.

2.4 Digital Output: The VSK (transducers and gauge display) shall utilize digital communication. The VSK shall incorporate digital communication connections, which consist of at least RS232, USB, or Ethernet.

2.5 Operating Environment: The VSK shall operate in an environment of 73 ± 6°F and 20 to 50% Relative Humidity.

2.6 Stability: After a vacuum point is reached, the VSK shall be capable of achieving a stable reading within 10 seconds.

3.0 Functional Requirements

3.1 Transducer: The VSK shall include no more than 2 transducers.

3.1.1 Transducer Flange/Connection: The VSK transducer(s) shall have the capability to mount onto a KF 40 flange.

3.2 Gauge Display: The VSK shall include one gauge display to display readings from the supplied transducer(s) . Gauge display shall be capable of switching between multiple transducers, if VSK contains more than one transducer.

3.2.1 Gauge Display's Firmware: The user shall control all functions of the system through the front panel interface, this does not have to include zero adjustment.

3.3 Units: The VSK shall allow the desired vacuum units to be selected: Torr, Microns, and Pa as amm1mum.

3.4 Transducer Adjustment: If the VSK has the ability to be adjusted beyond zero adjustment, such adjustments procedures will be provided.

3.5 Zero Adjustment: The VSK shall have capability to zero the transducer(s) by push button either on the transducer(s) or gauge display.

3.6 Stand-alone Operation: All functions of the transducer shall be integrated; no gauge display shall be required to operate the transducer.

4.0 Physical/Mechanical Requirements

4.1 Dimensions and Weight: The VSK transducer shall measure no greater than 8 in x 5 in x 5 in and shall not exceed 5 lbs. The VSK gauge display shall measure no greater than 12 in x 6 in x 6 in and shall not exceed 5 lbs.

4.2 Ancillary Components: The VSK shall consist of the following necessary cables to connect all components, at a minimum: All cables shall be at least 5 feet in length

4.2.1 Communication cable from gauge display to computer

4.2.2 Communication/power cable from each transducer(s) to computer (this cable is used for stand-alone transducer operation when connected to a computer)

4.2.3 Cables to connect the transducer(s) to the gauge controller

4.2.4 Power cable for gauge display

4.3 Material: All components directly associated with the vacuum gas shall be made of a corrosion resistant material.

4.4 Design and Construction: The VSK shall be designed and constructed of materials that meet the requirements of this specification and in accordance with the best practices for industry approved equipment. It shall be the contractor's responsibility to assure the government that such design objectives as reliability, accuracy of operation, maintainability, and ease of operation have been given due consideration in the manufacture of this equipment. All parts shall so work together that the equipment shall supply the rated requirements without unnecessary strains, vibrations, and overheating. They shall be able to withstand the conditions met in shipping, storage, installation, and services. · All materials and parts of this equipment shall be capable of withstanding environmental testing requirements of this specification.

4.5 Power Requirements: The VSK shall operate on line power of approximately 120 VAC, 50/60 Hz source.

4.5.1 Safety: Documentation shall be provided to support the means by which electrical safety considerations have been addressed. This documentation shall consist of a minimum of a citation of a UL or ANSI identified standard or equivalent United States Standard to which the equipment conforms.

4.6 Individual Unique Identifier Designation: This item shall be clearly labeled with a model number, serial number, and manufacturer's name. Unique item identification labeling shall follow Item Identification and Valuation requirements as stated in the contract.

4. 7 Case: A single reusable traveling case for all components of the VSK shall be provided.

4. 7.1 The exterior of the case shall measure no greater than 22 in x 16 in x 10 in (L x W x D) when closed.

4.7.2 The case shall be made from: a non-metallic material, such as fiberglass or polypropylene copolymer rubber.

4.7.3 The case shall be able to prevent all components of the VSK from shifting or moving when storage case is closed and secured.

4.7.4 The case interior material shall be manufactured from a material that will not corrode the VSK, the material shall be oil resistant, and the material shall not deteriorate.

4.7.5 The case shall consist of a handle, traditional 'clam shell ' mold and feature positive action latches, and a durable hinge for 90 degree opening of the case. Hardware such as hinges and latches shall be designed with corrosion resistant properties. The case shall be capable of repeated opening and closings without degradation of the reusability of the case.

4.7.6 The case will be inspected by the Air Force and shall be free from any defects (i .e. poor molding fabrication, loose materials, damaged or improperly assembled cases, peeling, or chipping of plating or finish, nicks or burrs of metal parts, and post molding warping) which affect the durability, strength, safety, or serviceability. The finish of exposed edges/surfaces shall be smooth and free of sharp or jagged edges.

5.0 Manual: The VSK shall include an operation manual to include at a minimum a table of contents, describes purpose and operation of each function, a basic operation procedure, warm up time, step by step procedure for adjustment of zero setting, step by step transducer adjustment procedure, preventative maintenance requirements and schedule, and communication commands.

6.0 Testing: The VSK will be inspected and accepted at a destination specified elsewhere in this contract. The item will be checked with test equipment and parameters equal to or better than those required assuring specified performance requirements are met. Test equipment has first echelon certification directly traceable to the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) or other AFMETCAL approved sources where required. Tests will be performed to assure the VSK meets or exceeds all of the requirements of this purchase description. Such testing does not relieve the contractor of performing all inspections and quality control checks at the point of fabrication as necessary to assure performance as specified.
