About this file
This is a Questions and Answers document for federal contract FA462126Q0052, issued by the 22nd Maintenance Group (22 MXG) for the procurement of shelving units in fiscal year 2026.
The solicitation requires 250 shelving units with mandatory dimensions of 48 inches wide by 24 inches deep by 87 inches high for CLIN 0001, with an additional extra row to be accommodated in a separate area. The primary storage space measures 40 feet by 100 feet, with a minimum aisle width requirement of 5 feet that must be maintained throughout the installation. Cabinets with dimensions of 36 inches wide by 18 inches deep by 60 inches high are specified; however, alternate dimensions of 30 inches wide by 23-3/8 inches deep by 59 inches high are acceptable if they provide equal or greater storage capacity, with the ideal back-to-back shelving unit width being 48 inches. The 24-inch depth is mandatory due to the size of equipment requiring storage. A site visit is not scheduled during the solicitation period but can be accommodated post-award. The document clarifies that an amendment will be posted to correct conflicting dimension specifications in the original solicitation documents and references attached site pictures for current layout information.

Q&A - FY26 – 22 MXG Shelving Units
Q1. Do you have a layout for the new shelving?
Answer: It will be the same layout with an extra row at the end. (See site pictures)
Q2. Please clarify which CLIN 0001 shelving dimensions control:
1) Attachment 1, Statement of Need, Section 3.0: nominal 48 in W x 24 in D x 87 in H; or
2) Solicitation Section L, Factor 1: 48 in W x 12 in D x 99 in H.
Answer: The correct dimensions are 48 in W x 24 in D x 87 in H for CLIN 0001 – An amendment will be posted to reflect this change.
Q3. Please confirm whether a site visit is mandatory or merely recommended.
Answer: A site visit is not scheduled for this solicitation.
Q4. Our supplier determined that 250 shelving units measuring 48"W × 24"D, together with 20 cabinets, cannot fit within the stated 31' × 98' room. Is the quantity of 250 shelving units mandatory, and can an intended or approved layout be provided?
Answer: For the main room being used, we have measurements of 40’ X 100’ to fill. Then we will be having an area set up separated by a roll call area that will fit the remaining shelving.
Q5. Using 12-inch-deep shelving and reducing the aisles to approximately 39 inches, the supplier estimates that a maximum of 242 shelving units can fit. Would this alternative quantity and configuration be acceptable? Please also confirm whether there is a required minimum aisle width.
Answer: A 24-inch-deep shelving is mandatory due to the size of equipment that we must store. There is a 5’ minimum aisle width that must be met.
Q6. Are the cabinet dimensions of 36"W × 18"D × 60"H mandatory, or would a 30"W × 23- 3/8"D × 59"H cabinet with equal or greater drawer storage capacity and all other required features be acceptable as an equal product?
Answer: The alternate dimensions are acceptable if they are equal or greater in storage capacity. The drawers will have to be different heights as well due to the variety of sizes on tools. The width of back-to-back shelving units will be 48” W. This would be the ideal width with the other measurements matching the original request.
Q7. Is a site visit available to verify door locations, obstructions, and the dimensions of the caged storage area?
Answer: A site visit can be accommodated post-award. Please refer to the attached site pictures for current layout.
