Q&A

1. Contractor Question- Do you prefer the unit/manifolds to be on caster wheels?

Answer: We would like two considerations to be taken pertaining to portability. One is the incorporation of caster wheels; the other the ability to lift the unit from the ground either with a crane or forklift (lifting tethers or dedicated forklift area).

2. Contractor Question- What is the preferred input power of the units? How will they be powered?

Answer: Standard 110VAC

3. Contractor Question- Do you want manually or electronically controlled pressure and flow valves?

Answer: Manual

4. Contractor Question- Do you want a secondary flow meter installed on the manifold if there is a flow meter already installed on the skid? Contractor expressed redundancy concerns of having two flow meters installed.

Answer: Yes. We want to be able to monitor flow from the unit on the turntable. The location of manifold when in use (away from the skid) is the driver.

5. Contractor Question- Contractor requested photo/s of the sample manifold the government was using for reference.

Answer: Photo/s will be provided to contracting and attached to RFQ package as required.

6. Contractor Question- Contractor asked for clarification regarding requirement for pressure relief and/or drain built into the unit? The return line going back to the turntable is essentially your drain back to the skid.

Answer: We want a pressure relief valve installed on the unit to enable easy connection and disconnection of QDs to and from the manifold (depressurization of fluid inside of the manifold/unit).

We do not require a drain valve.

7. Contractor Question- The existing sample unit has components installed enabling pressures and flows to be monitored from a site glass or gauge as well as a digital read out. Does the government require both options for the new manifolds/units?

Answer: Yes. We would like the ability to monitor pressure and flow readings from a digital display as well as from a site glass indicator or gauge.

8. Government comment- The CONOPS in utilizing this device is so we do not have to roll the applicable fluid CART into the Chamber, therefore, the vendor will have to contact Trimax to have them provide the hardware interface to bypass the E-STOP circuit under the Turntable. Trimax is aware of this device build and are aware of the interface required. Therefore, some type of metal electrical control box will be needed to install the Simatic PLC interface.

9. Government comment- The nature of the fluids systems the manifolds will be operating with, close care and attention should be paid to the type of joints and connections being used. The fluids can be problematic to seal especially at threaded joints. Considerations should be taken in the design of the manifold to minimize joints, unions and to consider welded joints

10. Contractor Question - The flow rate for these load banks vary from 0 - 50 gpm. Once set, will the flow rate change?

Answer: The 0-50 gpm is the expected range of flow at any given time for any of the fluids, to include anywhere in between 0 and 50. It is my understanding that the flow meters installed on the units will monitor flow (not control or regulate flow). Any fluctuations in flow caused by pressure fluctuations will be monitored as such.

11. Contractor Question -If the back pressure is set at 100 psi at the load bank with a flow rate of 30 gpm, fluctuations in the pressure setting will occur if the flow rate changes. Any fluctuation in the flow will affect the set back pressure. Higher flows will cause the back pressure to increase and lower flows will cause the back pressure to decrease. Will this be acceptable?

Answer: That will be fine. In the end, we are trying to best mimic the aircraft pressure drops and run the pressures and flows that the aircraft needs and to cycle fluid while performing maintenance.

I do understand that there will be limitations because we are not building a mini cart.
