About this file
This document is a Questions and Answers file dated 24 April 2025 for a Sources Sought synopsis related to F-16 aircraft component repair. The document addresses seven key questions from potential vendors about a Department of the Air Force contract opportunity for repairing Accessory Drive Gearbox (ADG) and Jet Fuel Starter (JFS) components. Key clarifications include that the parts fly on aircraft, the Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) are Collins Aerospace and Pratt & Whitney, and this is not a package deal requiring bidding on both components. Vendors interested in the opportunity are encouraged to submit a capabilities statement, with the sources sought period closing on 20 April 2025. The document notes that additional information about Technical Orders (TOs) and access to them will potentially be provided during the solicitation, and interested parties should contact Anna Bournakis for further information.

Updated: Final- 24 April 2025
All questions and answers will be posted weekly starting 31 March 2025. This is a detailed list of all questions and answers that have been gathered from the posting of the Sources Sought until 20 April 2025, when the sources sought closed. If you do not see your questions with answers below and for any additional questions, please contact Anna Bournakis at anna.bournakis@us.af.mil .
1. Why doesn’t the OEM want to continue to repair these parts?
a. The OEM may or may not want to continue the repairs.
2. Do these parts fly with the aircraft or are they just ground support equipment? (i.e.. Will airworthiness be necessary?)
a. Parts fly on aircraft.
3. Who was the latest company that produced these?
a. The OEM is Collins Aerospace and Pratt & Whitney
4. Regarding this effort, are you able to advise who the OEM is that manufactured the test stands in need of repair?
a. We are looking for repairs to the ADG and JFS, not the test stand.
5. Is this Sources Sought a package deal? Does a contractor have to bid on both the ADG and JFS, or can they bid on just the ADG?
a. This is not a package deal.
6. Is Lockheed or Collins not showing any interest or not supporting now?
a. This is a Sources Sought only, and all interested vendors are encouraged to submit a capabilities statement.
7. Would we be able to receive a copy of the ADG T.O.s to review?
a. Currently, we are looking into if vendors can receive requested information. Any interested vendors are encouraged to submit a capabilities statement. For vendors to gain access to TOs for this requirement, they would need to follow the USAF protocol. Additional information may be provided at the solicitation.
