About this file

This document is a description of an intended single-source purchase for the Florida Department of Health (DOH) Bureau of Public Health Laboratories (BPHL). The DOH BPHL is seeking to purchase reagents and equipment from Pacific Biosciences of California, Inc. to perform validated testing of clinical samples and generate closed reference genomes, a capability the BPHL currently lacks. The requested items include chemical evaluation instruments, electrical measuring and testing equipment, clinical and diagnostic analyzer reagents, and analyzer maintenance services. The estimated total value of the contract is $375,000 over a three-year period.

The justification for the single-source acquisition is that Pacific Biosciences of California, Inc. is the exclusive manufacturer of the required reagents and equipment in the United States, and these items must comply with standards specified by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) for outbreak detection activities. The DOH has determined that there are no other vendors that can provide the necessary capabilities. Prospective vendors are invited to provide information regarding their ability to supply the requested commodities or services.
