Issued by
Department of Veterans Affairs Veterans Health Administration Veterans Integrated Service Network 19

About this file

This solicitation package includes a statement of work for replacing existing wood doors with steel doors in a Veterans Affairs medical center mental health unit. The scope of work calls for removing thirty-seven existing wood patient room doors and replacing them with steel wicket doors to improve durability and mitigate risks of patient self-harm. Thirty-two doors are located in the inpatient mental health ward and five doors are in the emergency department. Requirements specify steel cores with a minimum 16-gauge thickness for the replacement doors. Contractor must also remove and reinstall existing over-the-door patient tampering alarms on twenty-five doors and confirm the system functions after installation. The period of performance is ninety calendar days from notice to proceed.

The solicitation requires adherence to all applicable safety standards and regulations. The contractor must submit for approval a site-specific safety plan, construction schedule, and documentation of personnel qualifications and training. Infection control risk assessments are also required due to work in an occupied patient area. The contractor must provide all necessary labor, materials, equipment, and supervision to complete the door replacements in accordance with specifications.
