Use of the Security Door Opening Matrix
PG18-9/VA SEPS References
The matrix below is organized alphabetically by building or facility type. Within each building or facility type, the security door openings are separated into exterior and interior (highlighted in blue) locations and are also listed alphabetically within each of those categories.
For the convenience of the design team, where PG-18-9 describes spaces similar to those listed below, the chapter, room name, and room code from VA SEPS are indicated.
The door locations identified below are generic. The facility and the designer must determine on a case by case basis whether additional door openings or different door openings require the protection shown. In some cases additional protection may be necessary to meet the needs of the facility.
This matrix is intended for use in conjunction with the Security Door Opening Schedule (SDO) and as a supplement to applicable VA design criteria such as PG-18-9, Space Planning Criteria and VA Space and Equipment Planning System (VA SEPS), and PG-18-14, Room Finishes, Door, and Hardware Schedules.
