About this file
The document is a Curbside Collection Services Guide (Exhibit B) developed by Sacramento County and SacGreenTeam, detailing comprehensive waste management and recycling services for residential areas. The guide provides detailed instructions for curbside collection of garbage, organics, recyclables, used oil, and bulky waste, with weekly collection for garbage and organics, and bi-weekly collection for recyclables. Services include free drop-off locations at Kiefer Landfill and North Area Recovery Station (NARS) for household hazardous waste, e-waste, tires, appliances, and mattresses, with specific guidelines for preparing and placing different types of waste in designated carts.
The guide introduces "Binfluencers" - character mascots that represent different aspects of waste management: Olivia Organics (food scrap and yard trimming collection), Robbie Recycle (proper recycling techniques), Bulky Ben (bulky waste reduction), and Oscar Oil (proper oil recycling). A complementary mobile app is available for residents to find service calendars, request pickups, report missed services, and play an educational sorting game. The document emphasizes proper waste sorting, environmental benefits like reducing methane emissions and landfill space, and provides clear instructions on cart placement, acceptable materials, and drop-off procedures, with contact information for customer service and additional resources.
