About this file

This document is a training presentation titled "PPC Wall Field Repairs Crypts 101" from the National Cemetery Administration, dated 6/24/2021. The presentation is led by Andrew J. Walters, PE, a Specialist in Cemetery Development & Improvement Service. The slides provide a detailed technical overview of repair procedures for damaged concrete crypts in cemetery settings.

The presentation outlines a step-by-step process for repairing damaged crypt walls, focusing on maintaining structural integrity and functionality. Key repair steps include removing debris, cleaning edges, installing screws with epoxy, setting up formwork, and pouring a high-strength concrete mix (specifically Pro Finish 5000 high-strength concrete mix). The document emphasizes that concrete cracks are inevitable but can be addressed without compromising the crypt's structural integrity. The most common damage is described as short wall damage caused by vehicles on crypt lids during installation processes like backfilling and placing pea gravel. The presentation also notes specific restrictions, such as no repairs allowed on outside walls along field edges or walls bordering irrigation aisles, and requires pre-repair documentation and approval from an NCA Crypt Specialist.
