About this file

This is an exhibit supporting a state and local contract opportunity for Camp Grayling, a Michigan Army National Guard training facility, detailing molded targets, backer boards, and range equipment. The document is a comprehensive training pamphlet (CG PAM 25-8.1) cataloging 46+ ranges and training facilities at Camp Grayling, along with associated training aids, devices, simulators, and support infrastructure. The facility supports multi-echelon training from individual soldiers through battalion task force level, with capabilities spanning pistol, rifle, machine gun, grenade, mortar, artillery, armor, anti-armor, aerial gunnery, and urban warfare training. Specific range assets include automated target systems, backer boards in multiple configurations (white foam, green plastic), stationary and moving targets, and specialized equipment such as the M153 CROWS II Tabletop Gunnery Trainer, Virtual Battle Simulator (VBS3), and Engagement Skills Trainer (EST II). The facility includes 24 southern training areas and 30 northern training areas, with detailed grid coordinates, throughput capacities ranging from 6 to 66 soldiers per hour depending on range type, and comprehensive safety requirements aligned with AR 385-63 and CG 385-63 regulations.

The Camp Grayling facility encompasses approximately 147,000 acres of training space with airspace designated as R-4201A, R-4201B, and R-4202, supporting restricted operations requiring minimum 72-hour advance scheduling. Key infrastructure includes the Grayling Army Airfield with Class D airspace and instrument approach capabilities, 30 fuel pads distributed across cantonment and complex areas, multiple forward operating bases (FOB North and FOB South), drop zones, landing zones, and specialized training facilities such as the Combined Arms Collective Training Facility (CACTF), Live Fire Shoot House (LFSH), Counter-IED/Home Station Training Lane, and Urban Assault Course stations. Range scheduling is managed through RFMSS (Range Facility Management System), with units responsible for submitting Operations Plans and Deliberate Risk Assessment Worksheets 30 to 120 days prior to execution depending on range type. Environmental compliance, potable water locations, ammunition holding areas, and latrine facilities are designated throughout the installation, with units typically responsible for porta-john procurement and specialized equipment coordination such as MILES (Multiple Integrated Laser Engagement System) and LTIDS (Laser Training Instrumentation Detection System).

Station 2 - Squad & Platoon Trainer; used to build upon tasks learned at Station 1 and begin to learn the concepts of clearing multiple buildings increasing the complexity of command, control, and maneuver. This station is equiped with multiple rooms and designed to replicate separate buildings with a narrow street or as individual rooms inside a building with a long, connecting hallway. This station has four separate structures that face inward to create a street and introduces a two-story building with both exterior and interior stairways and catwalks.

Station 3 - Grenadier Gunnery Trainer (See page 26 for details)

Station 4 - Urban Offense/Defense Trainer; used to train platoons to attack and/or defend a building. Station 4 can also be divided into a number of smaller training stations to reinforce training or to train tasks not yet trained at the other stations. It allows the platoon

Station 5 - Underground Trainer, used to provide training for subterranean operations and designed to train up to a squad on clearing and moving tactically in a subterranean environment. Station 5 also contains an Enemy Prisoner-of-War training site. It contains 30,000 sq ft area surrounded by a double cyclone fence topped with barbed wire along with 2 two-story buildings with breachable doors.
