About this file
This document is Exhibit 1 of a federal contract solicitation outlining the Mission Trajectory Data Package (MTN) requirements for a Mars mission proposal.
The exhibit specifies two primary categories of required data. Section 1 addresses trajectory information, requiring proposers to provide the launch vehicle details, launch date, C3 value, and departure launch azimuth; final orbit characteristics at Mars; binary SPICE SPK files or equivalent data covering the beginning, middle, and end of the launch window; solar conjunction and eclipse duration data; finite versus impulsive maneuver assumptions; aerobraking assumptions; and a Delta-V budget. Section 2 details spacecraft data requirements, including wet mass and propellant mass specifications; chemical and/or electric engine types with associated duty cycles, propellants, specific impulse (Isp), thrust, and power characteristics with supporting equations; thrust vectors for each planned maneuver; tank capacities and propellant margin quantities; power capability at 1 AU with power margin amounts; Technology Readiness Levels and throughput capabilities for engines, solar arrays, and power processing electronics; and momentum control methodology during both quiescent cruise and maneuver phases. These detailed technical parameters are essential for government evaluation of mission feasibility and spacecraft design adequacy for the proposed Mars mission.
